After reading reviews on this hotel we were a little cautious. Faro airport were on strike and we had to fly to Seville and bus across, no big deal we got to see some Spanish countryside. My husband took me for this break for my 50th birthday , and it was perfect. Hotel Great, Location great. Weather great, Food great.. We would definitely return next year. it was a well chosen warm last minute break. Staff were extremely helpful and the rooms were very comfortable. EXCELLENT .....

Following our booking travelled to the Vila Gale Marina - 15/10 - with some concern after reading some of the previous reviews. Thankfully our concerns were unfounded as we had a thoroughly enjoyable week at this hotel. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean as were the public areas, including the pool and sun terraces. Yes, the decor was a little dated in some areas and the pool area was on the small side, and because the pool area is on the Marina side of the hotel there was no morning sun on the pool, but the hotel is well situated for the marina and its attractions and convenient for the beach.
We found the staff courteous and willing to please at all times. The restaurant again was immaculate and the food was always well presented with plently of choice of all courses. We were on half board - most guests seemed to be on BB - and although it was quite busy at breakfast there was never any queing involved. The evening meal was quite relaxed in pleasant surrounding and the staff were on the whole both attentive and cheerful. Previous reviews highlighted problems with noise but thankfully we did not experience any great disturbance other than some early hours noise occassionally. On the whole an enjoyable experience at the Vila Gale and a lovely week of warm autumn sunshine.

Excellent location for the marina and beach, the staff were helpful and in the main friendly- apart from one waitress who took exception to the two of us sitting on a four-seater table, even though the restaurant was half empty.
Public areas clean and tidy, outside pool mostly in shade but plenty of sunbeds even when some people put towels out at 9.30am and didn't appear until noon. Pool freezing cold and vey deep at one end, not necessary when diving is forbidden. Hotel only allows one towel per day so if you get it too wet- tough. Bar prices expensive. Inside pool looked ok and always empty.
Room- balcony in permanent shade but this was sometimes welcome in the heat, fridge very useful for bought water and beer, safe should be free as opposed to 2.5 euros a day, beds comfy and clean, maid sometimes did not appear until 3pm which is too late in my opinion, doors are heavy and slam easily which is annoying when people get to bed late, balcony doors do not seal properly so any noise by the pool is easily audible which is a pain when drinkers sit outside into the small hours ( i recommend you take earplugs).
Food- breakfast good choice, plenty of hot and cold choices (an omelette station would have been a nice touch), did not have lunch, evening meal a bit repetative and not much choice for veggies, marina bars and restaurants are nice but the staff there pester you to go in as you pass which is a pain.
There are a lot of golfers in the hotel which means the hotel and pools are quiet during the day whilst they are away playing, however when they return it can be a pain as they sit outside and chat when we want to sleep.
Overall I would recommend for the location but the food could be better and the pool was too shady.

We are a O A P couple.looking for an easy holiday.This hotel was the perfect place for us ..end of Sept to Oct 6th.After a "fruitfilled" breakfast.we paddled the beach every morning..stunned by the beauty of the gigantic Atllantic breakers...nearly always our rooms were ready after trip..Around 1 p m we treated ourselves to delicious smoked salmon plus a glass of wine in the friendly lobby where we got to know some staff.our p m's varied to walks along the marina,a ride on the noddy train.. and most exciting searching for that night's retaurant./ that was fun as there was such a variety inc an excellent one inQuarteria.however the two evening meals we experienced in the hotel's restaurant were the best ( A LA CARTE MENU)how we appreciated being treated so well after our outings.. WELL DONE
to the friendly staff.... we will be back again... just hope the sun will be shning as brightly..
