I have just returned from these apartments in Vilamoura and i must say that the somewhat negative reviews posted by some people were totally unjustified ; we had three apartments and we found them safe, clean and a really great location for the beach, nightime in Vilamoura and access to transport. Check in was easy and efficent.
The area was safe - we were a mixed sex party and neither one of us felt threatened or intimidated as some people seem to be intimating. Ok, it's not 5 star, but if you are on a limited budget, like us, it's a really great place to stay. As for crime, tou wouldnt sleep with your windows or doors open at home, so don't do it 'abroad', and there are safety deposit boxes for the sake of 20 Euro's..

Went to Vilamoura for a stag weekend (4 nights). 7 of us stayed in 2 x 1 bed apartments (ground floor) and 1 x Studio.

The ground floor appartments seemed as good as anywhere else I've been security wise - the window by the kitchen mentioned by someone else as an entry route now has bars (not sure if this was the same for all floors). Security boxes were available for valuables so don't leave valuables out until you have one and lock all the windows and shutters when out - there are lockable shutters when in the appartment when you need the windows open.

Apartments were clean, comfy and well equipped (microwave, toaster, fridge freezer)

If arriving late in the day make sure you get decent directions as the key pick up location depends on the time you arrive. The reception is more like an estate agent than a hotel/aparthotel reception but they were friendly and helpful.

Pool had no bar or snacks but was OK. Beach was about 15 minute walk away and was excellent with good waves for body boarding.

The marina is right on the doorstep and has loads of shops bars and restaurants.

These apartments are very near the marina which is fantastic, however the area around them isn't nice and there is grafitti everywhere. They are spacious, clean and ok for a couple of nights, you get what you pay for. There is no balcony, its just a room.The pool area is NOT within the apartments, they are only a minute away, however did not look appealing at all and you need to pay 20E deposit before getting the key to use it. The reception for these apartments are a few minutes away also. We were only there for two nights so it was fine and I will say the beds are really comfy.

Mouriliz is anapartment block in a fairly run down part of Vilamoura. We had the ground floor 1 bedroom apt in A block room 101. It's basic and should not be described as 3 star, but is a good size. Patio front and terrace and stairs down to garden which gets the sun all day. Bedroom is at the front with patio doors into the front terrace and as it is beside the main road is quite noisy. All external windows have bars or very noisy metal shutters which you are advised to cllose as there have been burglaries. Back garden has security light! It describes having a swimming pool. This is not near the apartment block and is found up a lane and is 10Euro a day and is accessed via key.
I would give this a star value of 1 because of its situation and basicness. Services are excellent and is managed by Gervatur.
