“Family Friendly, excellent facilities”

Spent a fantastic 10 days at the Honorio. The manager Alberto is excellent and bought us a round of drinks on arrival as our room was not ready (by 45 minutes). He makes a point of knowing who you are and is extremely helpful.

The complex is mostly two storey however we were in the top three storey block. The villa is large with two bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, wc and a huge roof terrace. The kitchen was excellent with a cooker with hobs and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer etc.

The pool is the best I have experienced abroad. Very clean and large in relation to the size of the complex. There is a bar/restaurant on site which was reasonably priced (a pint of Super Bok was 2 euros). You can get food there however I only had something once as there is lots to do in the area. The bar staff were excellent and spoke good English. There were mainly Portugese people at the complex with only a couple of families from the UK, this was something I liked! ;o)

This complex is really in Quarteira, not Villamoura. Quarteira is a resort with mainly Portugese tourists and is not as picturesque as Villamoura. Quarteira beach is around 25 minutes walk away with Villamoura being more like 45 minutes away. We were a family of 5 and found taxis that could accomodate us to be like Hens Teeth!

Nearby there is an excellent supermarket called "Jaffers". Next door to this is an excellent Italian restaurant that also does take away from its full menu. We used this a lot. Just down the road from the supermarket is a Grill Takeway place that does fantastic takeaway chicken. They are spit roasted behind the counter and you can also get other various cuts of meat available. A whole chicken costs 5.50 euros and was excellent value.

Villamoura is lovely although as you would expect, the meals at the marina were expensive, however there is plenty restaurants behind the marina at more reasonable prices.

If I had any complaint it would be that the Villa could do with some updating, however for the price you are paying (booked via travelrepublic), I think this villa is fantastic value for money with good amenities suitable for families up to 6 in size.

“Fantastic ! Great place, Great people !!!”

We stayed at Apartamentos Honorio at the begining of July, we booked via bookingroom.com. Our flight arrived very early, so i pre agreed with the manager to leave our luggage at reception as oficial check in time is only at 16.00. However Alberto made us feel very welcome and had told me we could use the pool straightaway as well as the cafe/resturante facilities... It turned out someone had checked out early and within 45 minutes we had our apartment ready. Result !!!! The apartment was exactly as the fotos show, not luxury, but very, very clean and functional. 2 double bedrooms, Kitchen is fully equipped, the lounge is spacious, sofa and dining table ,there is also 2 WC's !! The floor is marble, which made the apts. always nice and cool, did'nt bother with the air conditioning at all. and outside some days it was 35+, In the patio area there was a superb barbecue which we used regularly, it was a welcome change from sitting in restaurantes all the time !! If you like barbecued fish there is a superb Market in Town by the seafront !!! The pool is just wonderfull, one of the best i have seen in holiday accomodation, and there was always plenty of sun loungers, we went to the beach every morning and lounged around the pool PM, it was great, nice and lazy afternoons.... what a life !!!! WIFI is free but only available in the bar/cafe area. There is a bit of a distance to town at least 15 minutes walking, and coming back its even harder as its up hill, but to be honest i needed the excercise, before i turned into jabba the hut with all the great portuguese food i was stuffing down my neck !! Vilamoura is next door, literally ,but i would'nt walk it, by cab its around 5 euros...if you like to party then i recommend you go there in the evenings, as quarteira is a lot quieter, even though there is still a few bars and lots of cafes about, specially down by the beach ! If you got kids then take them to Aquashow, they will love it, Super sliding all day !!!! And thats's it really...just a small note to thank ALL the stuff at Honorio, who were very helpful and kind....see you all again next year !!!!!

“Bit like going back to the 1980's but had a fab time!!”

Before arriving at the apartment, I emailed the owner to clarify a couple of things. He replied straight away and was very helpful. We arrived earlier than the 4pm check-in to the apartment complex. The owner was away but had left our wrist bands (needed for the pool) with the bar staff and housekeeping were just finishing the cleaning so let us stay.
The apartment its self was very clean but did stink a bit of stale fags. The decor was very 1980's! There was air-conditioning in the apartment but we were told we needed to pay a "tax" in order to get the fuse. As it turns out, it was broken anyway (not surprised) so we were supplied with a desk fan, not ideal but did the job. The tv is a small portable with only bbc world news in English. Most of the other guest's were Portuguese with a couple for other Europeans. We were the only British staying at that time..... which I really liked! The complex is lovely, small and quiet. The pool was great. My son (2) loved the kids pool as it only came up to his chest meaning he could be independent with his ring on. Each apartment has a built in BBQ which was great as there isn't an oven only a 2 ring hob in the ap. The is a small bar on site offering bar snacks too. They play music all day which isn't too loud but again very 1980's. Think Phil Collins and Dire Straits! There is a guy who seems to do a bit of everything (served in the bar/cleaned the pool etc) who's english was perfect and a great help for pointing us in the right direction of where things were. Just a 10 min walk away is a supermarket with everything you need. A couple of mins drive takes you into Vilamoura for the beach and Marina. We ate by the marina most nights. You can get everything from Pizza to curry to steak etc. Bring plenty of money though, a large coke was £4! All in all though, a lovely quiet and cheap holiday. Would I go back? Probably not to that apartment but only because I'd like a villa next time!!

“Really great holiday”

I stayed here last week with my mother and son and we had a lovely time. The place is well equipped and maintained, with a superb pool and garden area which is open between 9am and 8pm so as to avoid noise disturbance. As with other reviews, I agree the local shops, bars and restaurants are all you could want but wiht an authentic feel, well used by locals and not full of tourists. The beach area of Quarteira is an easy walk downhill (more strenuous coming up but there are taxis) and there are local buses close by too.
Only down side was we had noisy upstairs neighbours the last couple of nights (not rowdy - just a family enjoying themselves) and with marble floors...
Otherwise - great!

“Laughed so much!”

I went to Honorio in May with a friend. It was hard to find it at first and when we did find it it didn't look so great from the outside. reception was shut with a note on a rusty iron door , our first thought was "AAAAgh". Anibal the manager came out to check us in, he was so nice and he showed us around the complex and to our apartment. He got a cab for us when we were leaving and made phone calls when we wanted to go on a sea trip. Nothing was a problem for him. The apartment was huge compared to everywhere else i've stayed on holidays. Its all done in marble, so its really cool. I can't imagine that you would need much air-conditioning in the hotter summer months. It also has a huge balcony with a barbeque area. It is about a 15min walk to the beach, there's no shop on site but the local supermarket is only a few minsutes walk away and it's very reasonably priced. La Cabana restaurant has beautiful food, its a bit more expensive but worth it. they will also pick you up or drop you off from wherever you are in there own mini bus. Grounds are very well kept, only there was very few sunbeds and no parasols, but hopefuly they will have more for the busier months. Great sleep too, no noise - very unusual for holidays!!!!! Anyway enough rambing, it was well worth the price. I'm going back soon, and I never go back to the same place!!!!!
