“We keep returning (only) because of the Amazing View & Atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

This was our second time so we knew what to except. It is true that the hotel is outdated, but it is the great view, atmosphere and pool/jardin area that are just so amazing! Best spots are of course either by the pool or on the upper bar terrace. I could just sit there and watch the sea and beach all day (+ glass of wine is just 2eur..) ;)
Some of the rooms have a terrace and therefore direct access to the pool. The rooms are old, forn out (especially floors and furniture) but everythings' been clean and neat so no complants there. The breakfast is disappointing, it is amazing how they have managed to find the worst products on all items.
But for sure we will return again; the unique charm of the hotel, the decor of the public areas, direct access to the beach and amazing view are something anyone will surely appreciate.

P.S The parking arrangement is something odd, you cannot enter the parking area till you have checked in, so what you're suppose to do? Unload, leave the care middle of the road (?), check in and come back to park your car, strange indeed

“Old and poorly run but charming hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

As all the hotels in Lisbon were booked during a recent conference, I stayed at this hotel in Sesimbra and commuted to Lisbon everyday for the conference. The hotel is obviously not practical for visitors needing to be at Lisbon and takes about 60 minutes to reach from downtown Lisbon in a coach. The hotel is otherwise located on a fabulous beach in Sesimbra.

Good.
1. The hotel is old and full of character.. the reception is on the 9th floor which is also were the car park is. The door to the beach is at the 2nd floor and the gardens and pool are on the 5th floor. As the hotel is built onto a cliff the floors are not exactly one on top of the other. 2. The 2nd floor opens to the street and the beach. There is a swimming pool at the 5th floor. 3. The decor on the top floors and the newer wing is mordern but the older wing is old and full of character though sparsely furnished.. Overall I felt as I was in a 1970s James Bond Movie set! 4. There is a great restaurant and bar on the top floors with great views of the sea.

Bad.

1. Though wifi is available in the hotel at a charge there is no signal on the 3rd floor were I was staying. Try and avoid rooms on this floor if you want internet in your room. 2. The hotel being on different levels means that to get to the 3rd floor from the reception you have to change 2 lifts. The lifts are tiny can can hardly hold 2 to 3 people at the same time or on person with a back pack. 3. Generally there is feeling that the hotel is sparsely staffed. Probably true for all European hotels but in all the service is poor and the comprehension of English among the staff is less than satisfactory. 4. There is only one power point in the whole room which means you have to chose to either keep the fridge running or switch it off and charge your phone. You have another point in the bathroom. 5. For the cost of the room there are very few amenities that are generally expected to be standard as part of the room. This includes a kettle. The TV is the smallest size available and mounted high on the wall in a corner which makes it almost impossible to see. 6. All the air-conditioners in the floor were not working and looking at there age it is easy to figure out why they break down so frequently. 7. There is no mini-bar or even bottled water available in the room. So it is better to bring your own.

Well if you are planning on a beach holiday with the whole day spent on the beach then this hotel seems fine... but for all other reasons this hotel is a no-no.

We found this hotel the same night we stayed there and were delighted with the overall experience. The hotel is located steps from the beach and offers full amenities. We would return without a doubt!

“Bad hotel for Autumn and Conferences”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2010

I think this is an hotel all turned for Summer time. Close to the beach, with outdoor and indoor swiming pools and lot of space to take sunbaths.
But the problem was that i stayed here on Autumn and to go to a conference.
They say they have a conference space, but that was a joke. The room has no quality or confort. The space was very tiny and outdated. I hate this part.
The hotel is all turned to the sea and all rooms have a balcony. That was the good part. All the rest was bad. Outdated and old is 2 words that make me remember this hotel.
The rooms are poorly furnished, with the tiniest TV i have ever seen in a hotel room, with a hard and unconfortable bed and with a poor sound and weather isolation. The bathroom was OK, but they still have shower curtains ans the water pression was bad.
The restaurant was OK with a great view. The breakfast was only average.
And we still have to pay for internet.
All summed togheter never go to this hotel in Autumn. And never go there for a conference.

“The Good, The Bad and the Beauty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

Yes the hotel is a bit dated but thats what a fishing village on the unspoilt coast is expected. If you want Boutique hotels stay in Lisbon. The good - great position with lift to the beach, all facilities thats required are at the hotel, pool towels, great fish restuarants nearby. The bad - They are building a lot of luxury apartments in and around Sesimbra so cranes and building work taking place , steep hill up to reception. The Beauty - one of the best views around from each room and particularily the restuarant and decked bar.
