We stayed a week in late June (for the summer solstice -- 24 hours of sun! -- in a two-bedroom rorbu. Yes, the beds are narrow, but still comfy. Because the sun slide behind the mountains (a.k.a. "The Lofoten Wall"), and decent though not totally light-blocking curtains, sleep was not a problem, especially with long, active days in the sun (or mist or rain, this being a Norwegian west coast location). We had every comfort we needed, including a nice sized refrigerator and well-equipped kitchen, where I cooked a fish I caught on what would be called a "party boat" at the (New) Jersey shore. Although there was little we needed from the staff, they were accommodating. There's a coin laundry on premises, which we used. Good wi-fi coverage in our rorbu. Picnic tables afforded great views where I could enjoy my cold steamed shrimp and a beer. Oh, buy beer at the Mega Coop supermarket in town -- almost half the price of what you'd pay in a restaurant. The on-site restaurant was excellent, though like all Norwegian dining establishments, pricey, so other than the typical, filling, tasty breakfast buffet, we mostly ate in the rorbu. If you can time your visit for June 22 (when "Midsummer night's eve" is celebrated in Norway, regardless of the astronomical calendar) there's a bonfire celebration down the road, with romergrot (sweet porridge) and polse (hot dogs). Room furnishings are comfortable for lazying about if you don't feel like dealing with those rainy days (which are to be enjoyed, not avoided: just dress appropriately). Since I'm a foodie, I was thrilled by the cod drying on racks near our rorbu; my wife immediately detected the aroma upon our arrival, but it was not off-putting.
