This hotel is very close to the Bussum-Zuid train station (litteraly opposite the station!) still very quiet. The service is good, very clean, and you can get a decent dinner in the evening. Room are small, but confortable. The big plus is the direct train connection from Amsterdam airport (approx 40 mins train ride)

For the price you pay I think you can get a better deal. The rooms are ok and well maintained, but quite small. Parking is free and there is plenty of it. The hotel is next door to a small trainstation so easy to go to Amsterdam in about half an hour by train.
The restaurant in the hotel is ok, nothing special though.
No much luxury here, just a clean, safe place.

I stayed at this hotel whilst on a business trip from the UK to The Netherlands. Having looked at some of the rip off prices for hotels in central Amsterdam and also read some of the terrible reviews of the budget places I decided to give this one a go and I'm really glad i did.

There is nothing fancy about this hotel but my room was really clean and so quiet that I had one of the best nights sleep I have ever had in a hotel! The staff were friendly.

This hotel is very close to the railway station at Bussum Zuid. From Amsterdam Central Station to Bussum Zuid cost me 4.20 Euros and took about 30 minutes. The trains are frequent and run until midnight. I travelled from Amsterdam around 10PM and felt completely safe.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I've stayed at the Bastion in Bussum several times because it's near the Dutch office of my employers. Flying in from the UK it's very easy to get to - catch a train from Schiphol to Bussum Zuid (usually direct but you might need to change at Weesp) which takes about 30 minutes, and on arrival at Bussum just walk across the carpark. The hotel is absolutely right next to the station.

The facilities are clean and minimalist. Beds are comfortable (to me, anyway) - I normally stay in a twin room (2 single beds). The bathroom in one of the ones I stayed in smelled a little musty - it's a "wet room" arrangement, the shower has no cubicle or tray, just a curtain around one corner of the bathroom. The shower itself tends to be very powerful - a strong spray of water at any temperature you like, which at full power actually stings the skin with its force.

Although the hotel is next to the train station, the rooms are very quiet and you don't actually hear the trains. Each room has the basics but nothing particularly fancy. There's a "restaurant" (really just an area off the foyer with a dozen tables) and a bar which is an extension of the front desk. Food is obviously pre-prepared (with the exception of fresh veg) and basic but decent quality and tasty. There's a selection of stuff on a buffet for breakfast, from bacon and scrambled eggs, cereals, fruit, through toast (pick your bread and put it through the toaster yourself!) with a variety of preserves, to various meats and cheeses. Take your pick.

There are rarely more than a couple of members of staff in evidence, but they're helpful and friendly and make visitors feel very welcome. It's not a destination hotel but it is a very pleasant place to stay.
