“Middle of nowhere... but WIFI is now free!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2011

(I believe this hotel is now renamed APOLLO Hotel but some of the signage still reads Regardz.)

A typical euro-business hotel located on an industrial estate on the side of a motorway.. which is probably OK if you are travelling by car. 10-15mins walk (with suitcase, in the rain!) from Zaltbommel after arriving 2300hrs and no taxis available.

Hotel has large clean rooms. I was in the annex rooms for the first time and was expecting a smaller less-well-fitted-out room than the main rooms, but found the rooms were just as spacious as the rooms in the main building. I have always like the large spacious rooms in this hotel.

As the weather was nice for the rest of the week we walked into Zaltbommel town each night, where there is a good selection of restauarants to choose from.

Breakfast choice and quality was very good indeed, and free wifi sealed the deal!

Room Tip: Annex rooms are cheaper and still spacious

“Disappointing so I had to write a review”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2008

It's a shame that it takes a bad experience to prompt me to write a review but this was so disappointing that I felt it absolutely necessary to document it for others.

I will never stay at Hotel Zaltbommel again. The only reason I tried it was because it was 10 minutes from where I do business.

I stayed at this hotel on April 9 & 10, 2008 on a business trip. The only redeeming quality of my stay was that the breakfast buffet which was diverse and good quality.

Now on to the negatives...
#1 - Service was poor. The most bothersome thing was the fact that I was put on hold and forgotten when I called the front desk with an issue dialing out on my calling card. I got a brusque please hold and was on hold for over 5 mins at which time, I simply hung up. Also, check in and check out times were rather long.

#2 - Room was extremely modest considering I paid nearly 150 Euros per night (US$230-$240). It was comparable to low end hotel rooms in the US that may run US$100 per night.

I travel to this part of the Netherlands every year on business and usually stay at the Golden Tulip in den Bosch ('sHertogenbosch) and that is a fantastic hotel right in the heart of city center.

“Dull business hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2008

I've stayed here twice now. It's just off the motorway in the middle of pretty much nowhere, with the town of Zaltbommel being about 5 mins drive. The rooms are fine, but it is difficult to adjust the temperature and it is generally too hot. Opening a window is not really an option because of the motorway noise. The food is average - best to try some of the much nicer restaurants that are in the centre of Zaltbommel.

“Nice hotel, cheap price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2008

I just stayed 1 night.
Rooms were Ok, breakfast also OK. The hotel has an indoor pool, small gym and turkish bath that are perfect for relaxing after a hard day.

“Don''t be tempted to sleep in”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2007

We stayed here for 6 nights as we were doing family history research in the area. The rooms were ok, the breakfast good. The place is all right for one or two nights, but it's not recommended for anyone who has jet lag or simply wants to rest in the room while on a longer stay. Here's what happened to us on a Dutch holiday weekend, when the place was not even busy. After a day of touring around, we came back in the evening to find that the room had not been cleaned. Instead, we found a snippy letter from the hotel manager, in Dutch, under our door which said that the Do Not Disturb sign was on the door and so no one could clean the room. It was a strange letter as the Do Not Disturb sign was on a suitcase, not on the door. And, while we had been out, someone had been in to fix a light panel.

We called and they came right away and cleaned it. However, the woman who came complained bitterly about being forced to come and clean our room, that it wasn't her job.

The next day we asked the cleaning supervisor what happened. She said she was aware that we'd left the room at 10 am, so she knew the room was not occupied, but the cleaning crew had gone by at 9 am and when they saw the Do Not Disturb sign on at that time, they simply went on to the next floor and later reported that they could not get access. We asked if she didn't think that was strange, she just shrugged and said that we shouldn't have been hanging around in the room, that other guests leave very early for the day.

So, if you have jet lag, or want to sleep in on a holiday, avoid this place. If you are out early in the morning and only come back late at night to sleep, it's ok. We come to Holland every year and normally stay in another area. This is the first time we've encountered poor service like this.

The furniture is old fashioned, and the bathroom, while roomy, is not modern or laid out well. This isn't an old hotel, so it was a bit of a surprise. And they are not careful to keep the lights and equipment working before they give out the room keys. In the time we were there the lights in the ceiling had to be replaced. Not a big issue, but coupled with the cleaning crew experience, it implies a hotel that could use professional management.
