Upon arrival at our Hotel, it was immediately obvious that this was not the Upgraded Hotel that we had paid for and expected. Everywhere was clean,. The towels were changed everyday, and beds made etc. When we booked we asked for a twin room, which I suppose is what we got, but it was very compact and the twin beds were pushed together with no space at either side to spread them out. As I was travelling with another female family friend, we just accepted the situation, but its not ideal. The bathroom was very small and reeked constantly from the drains, fortunately we didn't spend much time in our room. No hair dryer, no tea and coffee making facilities, which in this day and age, we have come to expect them.
On a brighter note, the meals consisted of a 4 course set meal, which was always hot and plentiful, and the staff always seemed pleasant.
With regard to the lady owner, I think she would benefit greatly from a course in Customer Service, and public relations. We had a problem in our room,my friend accidentally spilled a drink over herself and some of it went onto the bed sheet. We apologized and asked for the sheet to be changed, she proceeded to be quite nasty with my friend, and upset her greatly. Accidents do happen and surely she should know this, I feel maybe this person is in the wrong job, and should I ever be in Valkenburg again, it most certainly would not be at this Hotel. Our much needed break was almost spoiled by this incident.
