Don't overlook the Hotel Dupuis - great value at about £40 a night including breakfast. Don't expect 5* luxury because this is a basic hotel but the rooms are clean and the beds are comfy.
Ensuite bathroom was a little dated but it was clean and functional. Excellent breakfast buffet included in the price. The owner and his wife are lovely and very welcoming too. The hotel has a bar/cafe too which seems popular with the locals - always a good sign. Extensive magazine and book library too.
Parking is the only slight drawback - you have to park at a nearby hotel which is about a 3 minute walk away. Annoying if you have a lot of bags and it is raining. It's not a major problem though because you can drop off your bags and then drive back to the parking area in the other hotel. The parking is free too which is a bonus and seems pretty secure (electronic access gate etc).
You are right in the centre of Valkenburg here - the cobbled street the hotel is in is lovely - tree lined and full of boutiques. The town centre and river are just at the end of the street.
Highly recommended if you want basic accommodation at affordable rates bang in the centre of Valkenburg. You're also about a 15 min walk from Thermae2000. Be sure to request one of the ensuite rooms - some have communal bathrooms.
