we were here the first week of October with the Shearings Coach
we had a great time mainly because of the Hotel and staff.
They speak good english a they make you feel very welcome.
the breakfast and meals were very good and tastefull. the driver david Burgess offers a good knowledge of the surroundings and is very helpful.
The room was airy and very clean. Overall impression , very good and we will come again.

Coach trip with Elcocks of Shropshire. The whole trip was very reasonable, but I have no idea how much the company paid for the rooms, it can't have been a great amount.

This is a well run tourist hotel, we were half board and had no complaints. 2 or 3 Star, clean tidy and friendly.

Our double room was fairly small with not enough hanging spaces for my wifes array of fashion, but most hotels stuggle with this amount. Clean, tidy and functional, the corridors were also airy and clean. The bed was fine and it was quiet at all times, no outside noises. We are not ones for staying in, so we only slept and washed there. If you want huge public areas and gold plated taps, this isn't for you. If you want a safe, clean room to doss down in, it is ideal.

Normal continental breakfast, the evening meals were OK, a bit plain for our tastes, but you must remember UK bus parties (mostly middle aged to older women) don't want fancy sauces and Johnny Foreigners food. They were catering for the customers, I am sure the Al a Carte menu was a lot more interesting.

The hotel bar had a very funny (as in comedian), and completely over the top gay barman. Sorry, can't remember his name, but he was a lot of fun.

i travelled with Shearings all the way from Blackpool, England.It was my first time in Valkenburg and was not disappointed. The town is beautiful, clean and well cared for. HOTEL RICHE is a comfortable, nicely furnished, immaculate and welcoming place. The staff are very charming and efficient. The food was absolutely gorgeous; my favourite of all was the salad starter with smoked ham and melon and to follow was pork with a tasty pepper sauce,mmmmm!!! one of the sweets was an orange bavarois de-eeelicious!
The beds were so comfy, the sheets crisp and freshly laundered. The shower was was fab. so powerful i felt zingy all over -just the thing to have after a long day trekking round nearby towns and cities. Hotel Riche is very nicely situated in the town for everything, shops, cafe bars, churches, sight seeing etc. the train station is quite nearby and a trip to nearby Heerlen is well worth a visit if you are not in a car or coach that day.
The staff in charge speak good English, which is nice but do try to say Danku (thank you) or alstublief (please) now and again.
I love the place and want very much to go back there one day. It also has pleasant gardens at the back in which you can walk or sit in.
i thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

I visited this hotel in September 2005.
I would not recommend this hotel, there are many other hotels in Valkenburg (which is charming little town). The room was a decent size, but the decor was old and ugly. The key trade for this hotel seems to be coach tours. The worst thing for me was the sewage smell in the ensuite! I was nearly ill when I smelt it, but when I told the staff they seemed to be aware of it already. Fortunately it was remedied promptly, but it was not a pleasant experience. The other bad thing was the lack of hot water - if you want a shower you need to take it at a very inconvenient time, otherwise someone else will probably have beaten you to it! When you are competing with an entire coachload of people for the hot water at 8 am, you don't stand a chance.
