we went on a coach trip from scotland for new year. We had a brilliant time although it was not long enough. hotel was really nice although the rooms were a bit dark and brown. Food was plentiful and varied. New year was terriffic. KLovely dinner followed by snacks and champagne. Only 3 staff serving drinks, clearing up etc. for about 4 coaches of people plus other guests. Very hard working. Good fun too. Watch the drinks - you get 30 tokens for 18 euros. That only buys 3 large beers and 1 coke!! expensive. Happy hour helps slightly. Watch out too different staff sometimes charge different amounts of tokens - we stood our ground and just paid the same amount. We went into Valkenburg and went round the caves very interesting. Guide spoke Dutch but luckily we had an American who spoke Dutch so he translated it for us. Enjoyed lunch and wandering round the tourist shops. Would go back. Only thing I would suggest is take your own toilet paper as hotels is awful! Sorry to be a bit personal. New years day included loads and loads of cream cakes, ice creams and chocolate fountains! Wow what a selection!! the best bit was we celebrated new year at midnight and an hour later it was midnight in Scotland so had to celebrate it AGAIN - brilliant.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights as part of a sports tour. The only good thing I could say was that the food was good and plentiful, albeit plain.
The room was small, handles missing from cupboards and the bathroom was tatty.
It is in a good location and the outside patio is excellent. The hotel is tired and badly in need of refurbishment. The staff were not at all friendly and seemed to not like the fact that we had teenagers with us. There is never anyone in the bar unless late in the evening and evrrytime you wanted a drink or a coffee you had to go and find someone at reception. There was no tea or coffee available after meals - you had to buy them as extras at the bar. There was no tea or coffee in the rooms. The token system is a joke.. drinks are a rip off - dearer than London or paris.

Service on the whole was pretty good - perhaps replacement trays of food to bain maries could have had better attention. Drinks seemed rather expensive using tokens purchased. Beds were very comfortable and room clean. Stay was only for three nights but had it been longer and with nightly entertainment music noise levels might have prevented one from getting to sleep if room was on first floor just above band area. Location perfect -near to station for anyone wanting to use trains to reach other desdtinations.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while visiting the Christmas Markets.The food was good and the roms were very comfortable. The problem is the Bar 1) The staff are expected to multi-task, working the bar and at the same time cover drinks in the Dining Room and clear tables.This causes slow service. 2 ) The main problem is that the bar will only take tokens. These are sold at Reception £18 for 30 tokens( 1token=60p).The Bar has an Happy Hour ,with drinks at half-price. A Beer 6 tokens and a Rum/coke 6.
Cost of each £3.60. Normal rates Beer 11 tokens Rum/Coke 11 (£6.60 a drink). A Rum on its own is 6,and a Coke 4 (£2.4 ). The problem with the Coke/Pepsi come from a :arge 2.5 litre bottle and can be rather flat. Prices seem to change depending on the member of Staff and the look of your face. A well presented Price List would be most welcome.Maybe take your own drinks is worth considering.
