One of us stayed at the Van der Valk Hoofddorp because of a convention. It's one of the biggest hotels in The Netherlands. The room was OK. There is a nice bar. The service in the bar as well as the restaurant wasn't that great. Twice a waiter dropped glasses or plates on the floor. I wanted to have two shirts ironed but that was not possible: you could only have them cleaned and iron, or iron the shirts yourself...? Upon arrival the door of the room was open. I reported it to the reception but all they said was "oh how strange". Only stay here when it's absolutely necessary...

We were 1 week . We had a standard room with breakfast (2 people). The room was quite large, nice bathroom with bathtub and also separate shower. The breakfast was excellent with enough variety to all tastes.You can park your car freely and also there is shuttle (free) to an from the hotel to Schipol.quite frequent.
The negatives are minor but can be significant :
-No pen and paper in the room
-No special rack for laying the suitcase as usual in hotels (and there was place)
-No shower caps
-Reading lamp by the beds very low lighted
-Early check in ? Pay 15 Euro
-Late check out? pay 20 Euro
-After check put you can not leave them the suitcases for free for a couple of hours as usual in hotels. There are lockers (big) for 5 Euro...

We travelled to Holland and booked this hotel for 3 days to attend a football match. On arrival at Schiphol Airport the free hotel coach was waiting outside. After a 20 minute trip we arrived at the hotel. It took all of 5 minutes to check in 4 people, excellent. The hotel is very spacious and clean. The staff were polite the room was massive. 4 twin beds together in pairs, TV, couch and a writing desk. there was also a private balcony. We booked B & B so only ate at breakfast. A super selection of hot and cold meats, fruit, fish and tons of breads. The free coach departs the hotel every 40 minutes to the airport where you get trains to other parts of Holland and neighboring countries. The Royal Bar in the hotel is very comfortable and has a large selection of drinks. Vending machines are plentiful where you can buy anything from a bag of crisps to alcohol and cigarettes. The alcohol and cigarette machines cannot be accessed by anyone underage as you need to get an 'Age Coin' from the reception. All in all we had a brilliant time and with 2 14 yr olds there was no trouble keeping them boredom free. If I go back to Holland I will book this hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone else.

We had the great fortune of staying here (4 Jan 2012)after being delayed with weather to fly. We had a very large, clean, double room. The food was beyond superb for all 3 meals. All personnel we encountered were very pleasant and helpful. I would definetly return to this hotel and recommend others to stay too. The bus to the airport was very helpful and the distance to the airport was not much more than 5 km.
