We got married in June and Hotel De Draak was were we stayed. We had invited a whole group of family and friends from overseas - from very old to very young - who made lots of little requests and had many questions. The staff were so friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble for them.
The rooms are very nice and tastefully decorated. Very comfortable beds and everything spotlessly clean. The owners are lovely and made us feel very special. The hotel is located in the heart of Bergen op Zoom, within such easy reach of shops, cafes & culture. Our guest just loved everything about it. Did you know that this is the oldest hotel in the Netherlands? Defintelly recommended!

I was first given a windowless attic room which was unique and interesting but too dark and cave-like for me. The hand-carved beams were warped and cracked reflecting the age of the hotel (about 600 years). I asked for a room with a window and was happily given one on the first floor. It was small but adequate, however, there was a lot of street noise, especially from motor bikes. The room was stuffy and the air conditioning did not function properly, and opening the window was not an option because of the street noise. The staff was very helpful and did the best that they could. The included breakfast was satisfactory but not great. The central square location couldn't be better, and it's only a short walk from the train station.

Charming rooms, perfect restaurants (2), professional maitre d's and staff, pleasant atmosphere, good value. Secure parking for €5 per day. The town is a delight: rent bikes to go further afield.

De Draak is an interesting old building right on the cobbled town square. The rooms are spacious, with everything you need and the bathroom was a good size. There are lots of long corridors and although there is a lift you still have to cope with a lot of stairs. Breakfast was completely self service with no staff at all. The restaurent " Ernest Hemmingway" was excellent, the staff attentive and the food superb. It was very busy on a Saturday night so book a table when you book a room. They also have a bistro The only downside is getting to the hotel in the first place. The centre of town is car free with lots of one way systems. Sat Nav was foxed by it. They have a car park on the other side of the square(14.50 euros a night) Get the hotel to email directions for it. The entrance is a narrow garage door that rises if you press the button, It is very tight getting in but there is plenty of space inside, you are actually still in the open air. It may get full in the summer.
