This was our 2nd stay at Hotel Casmona, both times in Room 301, which I think is the best room in town. This time, we stayed 5 nights. It is a large corner room, with loveseat, desk, king bed (firm mattress, with 4 hard pillows), and 2 windows overlooking the promenade. It has high ceilings, and is light and airy. Decent size bathroom with shower. Fairly quiet, we heard nothing from other rooms, but some noise from people on the promenade with the windows open.
There are double doors to a huge veranda overlooking the sea, the beach, and the wide promenade of Camogli. The veranda has a table with 2 chairs, as well as 2 lounge chairs, and a large tree offers shade for much of the afternoon. The view of the promenade is fantastic to watch the locals strolling, kids playing soccer on the rooftops of buildings, fishermen taking their catch to restaurants, etc. We also had beautiful sunsets every night. When you see the town from the ferry, Casmona appears to have the only tree-shaded terrace in town.
They offer a breakfast for a fee, which we did not do. Instead, we bought fresh focaccia, juice, and cappuccino every morning from a local focacciaria, which was delicious and inexpensive.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spotless.
It is a 5 minute walk to the train station on level ground, except for a flight of stairs down to the entrance. There are numerous restaurants and bars all along the promenade and overlooking the harbor. It is another 5 minute walk to the ferry.
