I agree with the fact that this is a good hotel, however as we had paid for a superior, lake view room I was dissapointed that the only way to see the lake was to stand and look over to the left on the balcony. The room actually looked over the side garden which was well kept and quite pretty, but it did not make up for the fact that I had been looking forward to opening the curtains in the mornings to see the lake !
I did try to have us moved but was told that they were full and was told very aggresively by one of the receptionists that we had a lake view. The only difference with superior rooms is that they have been re furbished, If I had known I would have opted for an un refurbished room!
I was surprised that there was no curtesy bus down into the town, I was OK going down but coming back was a struggle, it cost 7 euros for a taxi up the hill to the hotel !!
The standard of cleanliness was excellent as it should be for 4 stars.
The food was OK but we did eat out at times as one of our party is vegetarian and there is only so many omelettes one can eat.
To summerise, If you want lake views make sure you insist before you arrive.
Don't try to walk back up the hill if you have any back or leg problems.
It would probably be better to have B&B as there are so many restaraunts in the town.
99.9% of the staff were excellent (pity about the 1% as she was our 1st point of contact)
Having said all that, our daughter, who's wedding we were there for, had a superb room facing the lake, and although the wedding was at Malcesne Castle, they did make her stay special, even if they did charge us 30 euros to cut up the wedding cake and put it on plates for us !
