“Outstanding service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

The service we encountered from the lovely girls on reception, restaurant staff, waiters and cleaners was excellent, they couldn't do enough for you. The hotel surroundings were relaxed and quiet even though we were only five minutes walk from the lake and ten minutes walk from the town centre. Our rooms were clean and comfortable but could do with being modernised, even so if going back to Limone we would stay at this hotel again. Great food - couldn't fault it (many hanks to the unseen chefs), never ate out apart from ice creams at Malecesine... delicious (just too many choices). Fantastic guitarists & harp player at Malecesine - just happen to come across them one day but unfortunately they were not their on our second trip over!!!

“Great hotel but be aware....”

I agree with the fact that this is a good hotel, however as we had paid for a superior, lake view room I was dissapointed that the only way to see the lake was to stand and look over to the left on the balcony. The room actually looked over the side garden which was well kept and quite pretty, but it did not make up for the fact that I had been looking forward to opening the curtains in the mornings to see the lake !
I did try to have us moved but was told that they were full and was told very aggresively by one of the receptionists that we had a lake view. The only difference with superior rooms is that they have been re furbished, If I had known I would have opted for an un refurbished room!
I was surprised that there was no curtesy bus down into the town, I was OK going down but coming back was a struggle, it cost 7 euros for a taxi up the hill to the hotel !!
The standard of cleanliness was excellent as it should be for 4 stars.
The food was OK but we did eat out at times as one of our party is vegetarian and there is only so many omelettes one can eat.
To summerise, If you want lake views make sure you insist before you arrive.
Don't try to walk back up the hill if you have any back or leg problems.
It would probably be better to have B&B as there are so many restaraunts in the town.
99.9% of the staff were excellent (pity about the 1% as she was our 1st point of contact)
Having said all that, our daughter, who's wedding we were there for, had a superb room facing the lake, and although the wedding was at Malcesne Castle, they did make her stay special, even if they did charge us 30 euros to cut up the wedding cake and put it on plates for us !

“Peaceful setting, but only 10 minutes from town”

Stayed for 3 nights at the Caravel over the August Bank Holiday 09. Chose a superior room as wanted a lake view and found the refurbished room to be very clean. Could have done with tea making facilities or a mini bar, but it did say on website that the rooms didn't have any, so wasn't surprised not to find them. Hotel has 2 swimming pools, 1 with bar and restaurant and the other with a bar - however this one is not poolside. We chose the pool without the restaurant as found this quieter and there were ample sunbeds and cushions. Breakfast was fine - usual cereals, toast, croissants, fruit, yoghurt, fruit juice, tea/coffee - seemed to cater for the german customer as lots of breads and cheeses and scrambled egg wasn't great. Breakfast tables were pre allocated, so no choice of where to sit and you had the same table each morning. Found hotel staff pleasant and happy to assist. A walk into Limone takes 10 minutes and is a steep walk back up to the hotel, however it was fine for two thirtysomethings. We ate in Ristorante Gemma on the lakeside by the fountain which lights up with changing colours and found the meal delicious - had to reserve table though. We also would recommend Al Pirate - pizzeria next to Alexander hotel - up hill past coach park on lakeside. Good bars - Ginny's on beach - played jazz and rock music, Bar Turistica - small balcony at back which has stunning views. We visited Malcesnie and Riva during our stay in Limone and thought Malcesnie had more bars/restaurants. However, overall for a 3 night stay Limone was perfect and the hotel was good.

“So we went back this year”

This year we went back to the Caravel hotel. We were given a room at the Villa Eden because we had 2 teenagers who stayed in a adjacent room. The lakeview from our room was disturbed by the big olivetrees, but this did not matter, the hotel surrounding is great. Like last year, we had a super holiday again. Compared to last year, there was nothing new. Maybe this was a pitty but on the otherhand, good things may stay as they are. Congratulations to the staff of the Caravel Hotel !

“Excellent”

On arrival greeted by very smiley face and shown to our room by the receptionist, the room was large and had been refurbished, the balcony had views of lake Garda and Dolomite mountains - brilliant !
The whole hotel had a fell good factor about it, great staff, very clean, beautiful flowers everywhere, central location - 10 mins walk from Limone.
The food and restaurant service superb, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and quality of the food first class, served mostly at your table.
Pleasant terrace area for drinks and lower pool area peaceful, upper pool good size with bar/snacks adjacent.
The one complaint was the temperature of the water in the bathroom, great shower and recently re furbished, but hot water on a timer and if you need a shower outside the timed hours be ready to shiver.
This hotel is well worth a visit if planning to stay around northern lake Garda.
Limone is very pretty and picturesque.
Travelled with First Choice, the reps, unusually were excellent from the airport to the resort.
Would highly recommend this hotel and Limone.
