“Awful - do not stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

This is the wost 3* accomodation I have stayed in during my trips to Italy. The room that we stayed in was dingy, dark and smelt and the bathroom was not very clean when we arrived.
The reception staff were not very welcoming when we arrived in particular the older male receptionist.and when we reported to them on our 3rd day that our car had been driven into in the hotel car park they just shrugged their and said there was nothing that they could do. The parking for the comlex is inadequate and if you want to walk into the town although it is not very far it is a very steep walk back to the hotel. The whole complex needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to a reasonable standard. When we stayed in August 2011 there were mostly Germans staying who completly took over the pool area.

“Disappointing from the start to the finish”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

We arrived in late August 2011 after driving from England. At reception we were offered non adjoining rooms for my family of four, in a block of rooms near the swimming pool. Access to these rooms was unacceptable, down a narrow staircase and then down a dingy passage way. The rooms were worse. Both were dirty, dingy, extremely small with fixtures and fittings more 1* than 3*. I went straight back to reception to complain but was met by indignant staff who shrugged their shoulders and said nothing could be done. I decided to wait until the next morning to complain to the Inghams reps at our welcome meeting.

We then went for our evening meal. The dining room is very cramped with buffets being available from an area which is too narrow for people to move around safely and there is also wires crossing the floor which which is not very safe. We found the menus at breakfast and dinner very limited and repetitive.

That night the fire alarm went off at 2am. We vacated our rooms and assembled at the fire point. After ten minutes no staff had appeared and worryingly no other guests. I went to reception and found no night porter. After going back to the fire assembly point the night porter arrived and gave the excuse that this was a regular occurrence and nothing to be worried about. This is not acceptable, if there is a fault sort it out.

At the welcome meeting the Inghams rep made it clear that it would be up to myself to sort things out. I find this amazing and wander what a rep if for. We went back to the hotel and made a vigorous and loud complaint which made the difference. We were given two apartments which were adjoining. These were excellent, roomy, clean with modern facilities.

The hotel is at the stop of a very steep hill, which must be 300 metres long which for people without transport is very tedious. There is not much in the hotel for children to do apart from table tennis and the pool.

On arriving back in England I wrote a letter of complaint to Inghams via Thomas Cook in Bath who said they would get back to me within a month. After two months I went back to enquire where the complaint was and I was told that it had been lost. As titled "Disappointing from start to the finish".

“Getting worse”

Our first trip to Lake Garda was 9 year ago with Page and Moy and we stayed at the Limonaia.
I always ride out on my motorbike and my wife goes by plane..
Lake Garda is stuning ,the hotel was ok but we had issues with the hot water.
The staff and food where very good.
Over the last 9 years we have been back 4 times the last was 1 years ago and the Hotel has got a bit worse each time .
We will go back to Lake Garda again next year but in another hotel.
If you like rough and ready this is it The Limonia.

Room Tip: Make sure you are high up with a lake view. Some of the lower appartments are dark and not that wel...

“Limonaia leaves a sour taste!”

Spent a week at the apartments at Limonaia. We are keen walkers but found the steep 15 minute walk a real drag every night. The hotel runs a bus service but it costs 2 euros each and the driver is very grumpy and unhelpful.

Room was dark and dingy and not a very nice place to be. Bathroom was particularly awful and the sloping roof in the apartment caused many bumped heads. Pool area OK with good view. We have stayed in many 3* hotels in Italy but this one is sub standard.

Limone is a beautiful town and a great resort and we would definitely return in the future but not to this hotel.

“The worst hotel experience ever.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

My friends and I stayed in 2 seperat rooms at hotel Limonaia in the beginning of september 2011.(2 nights)

To start from the beginng: upon check-in, we were met by a very rude receptionist, who seemed annoyed when asked different questions, like parking facillties etc.
Our rooms was very old and worn out. My friends had a nice and big balcony - that they were sharing with their "new" neighbours. This was quite a surprise, that we didnt get any information about this when checking in at the front desk!

Even though I also stayed in a double room, my balcony was very small, and was turning towards a "waterfall". The aircondition didnt work, so one of the nights i choose to sleep with my balcony door open, but the water outside made so much noise, that i had a hard time getting any sleep.

The breakfast buffet was really lousy, both quality and selection. The service was non existing - but I guess that was caused by the little amount of walters that had to serve way too many people.
We sat in the bar one night, and there was also a few waiters working really hard, to serve all the guests.

The professional photos of this hotel that you can find on the web, is not to be trusted - it looks so elegant and beautiful, but the truth is completely different!

The good things about this hotel is:

Great view of lake Garda.

Ok location. The hotel provides a minibus that takes you to centrum in 5 minutes. It costs 1 euro each way pr. person, 2 euro pr.person in the evening. (The drivers are helpful and nice)

The rooms are clean - so clean that it had a heavy smell of chlorine.

And...thats about it, i really dont have anymore good things to say about our stay at Limonaia.

The whole experience was lousy, and i wont reccomend this hotel to anyone, unless youre completely Indifferent with your visual surrondings, and dont care about service either.
