“Perfect. Unbelievable views, service and value. Good for everyone.”

We went as a late twenties couple. Brilliant hotel, with views from a high vantage point accross the Lake. Facilities fantastic with indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub in a secluded lemon garden and great food/drink. The staff were awesome, so much fun and friendly, perhaps used to a German style visitor a little banter and gratitude went a long way with them! They were the best staff I have ever encountered. Limone was beautiful and more scenic than other parts of the lake but is the last drop off and first pickup for excursions so watch out what you sign up for, going to Venice would add an extra couple if hours of travelling EACH way compared to those at other hotels! Would recommend a wine tour and hiring a speed boat in Limone which was great fun and unrestricted in terms of where you went. Malcense across the lake was good to visit for a day as Limone is quite small.

Best hotel all round that we saw, free drinks at dinner were an unexpected bonus!

Make sure you get a room not on floor with the pool though as your balcony will be inches from everyone out there! Also we had arrived a few days before the kids holidays, after which it became a much busier place so would go earlier next time!

Brilliant hotel and experience.

“Great base to tour Lake Garda”

Stayed at the Splendid Hotel, Limone, early september 2011, visited as two couples, hotel was very good, clean, friendly staff, great meals, buffet style breakfast, evening meal with as much self-service beer and wine as you could drink. spectacular views from terrace and from rooms across lake and mountains. ferry point 2 minute walk away. loads of places to see, one week was not really enough, weather was excellent. took the trip to Venice, long day but very enjoyable, would recommend this hotel highly, will definitely return.

Room Tip: higher rooms are better, you get a great view across the lake.

“Going back.”

The photos you will see relating to this hotel are not exagerated. Fantastic! There is a road at the back of the hotel, but it is level with the reception and bars, not busy and quite unobtrusive. The decor may not be cutting edge, but the hotel is spotless and very well maintained. At dinner there are six courses to be had, each of excellent quallity and range. Breakfast is very much the same.Whenever you go to get your next course, you will always return to a clean table, no matter how busy the place is. From what I could tell most of the rooms looked out over the lake and mountains, though those on the 4th floor( the floors decend in order) have to look past the main pool to see them. They're quite big, you can't miss them. Have to say our shower was very powerful. Definitely going back, something we've never done before. If you go, don't forget there are three very seperate pools, each worth a visit.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 404-407. these are over the swimming pool equipment and there is a low droning noise in...

“Not quite so splendid as it could have been”

Our view is slightly skewed because we had such a poor room. Whilst we paid First Choice a supplement for an uninterrupted lake view and balcony which we did get, our room was very tired, poor bathroom, tiny, leaking shower and very noisy room. We recommend that you don't pay for a lake view, you would be very unlucky not to get one anyway and in any event the public areas have great views.
Our room (108) was right under the bar area, could be looked into, and was, so no privacy made worse because the aircon in the hotel was not working or switched off for the whole week. So at night had to have the balcony door open, lights off and therefore had to endure the noise from those still in the bar.Very disappointed.
Having had a moan we would point out that we had a really nice holiday because all the staff were great, food was good, the free drinks with evening meal surprisingly good, views magnificent, hotel position excellent (so near to the town and ferries).
Some guests let the side down by hanging around long after they had finished dinner to take advantage of the free drinks, even though bar prices are very reasonable. Also hotel request no shorts at dinner, but sadly a few people ignored this and were better dressed for the beach.
If you go to Monte Baldo make sure you go really early or after 2.00pm. The Thomson rep did not advise us so we queued for hour and a half. Views and experience was marvellous even though. (Thomson reps made us realise why we normally travel independently!!)
Verona is well worth a visit, we did the Verona and wine tour.
We would return to Splendid Palace but would organise independently, and ask all the relevant questions regarding aircon and specific room.

Room Tip: Would sugggest you specify a room on floor 2 with room number above 215 or any room 601 to 810.
