“Relaxing place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This is a very nice and relaxing place. Of course it is an "agriturismo" style, which means that it is in the middle of an agricultural area, so you can arrive here only if you have a car. The rooms, buildings, restaurant, swimming-pool (full with clean water even in January!) all look like new and it seems that the owner and his employees are maintaining the place in a very good condition.
We had a relaxing walk around (despite the fact that we stayed here during January - so was a bit cold) and I saw that there are tennis courts and massage room. I will definitely return here during spring or summer time. The place can be used as a base for your trips around Tuscany (Siena, San Gimignano etc).

“a lovely autumn stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

We stayed for a week at BSL in the 3rd week in October. The roomy grounds and setting were lovely, the room and buildings were a delightful combination of modern amenities and traditional Tuscan architecture (even the new ones looked like they'd been there for centuries). While it was too far into autumn to use the pool, it did look inviting. The best part of the experience was the staff, who were unfailingly friendly and helpful, making calls in Italian for us and arranging reservations or directions. A good number of tours were coming through and staying for only one night, but I thought they missed the relaxed ambience of BSL in such a short stay. The restaurant food was excellent, as were the wait staff, even if the room itself was often a bit chilly in Oct. Good full breakfast buffet.

The only challenge was finding the place the first time. Some problems with local officials about signage means you're on your own. The thing to remember is that Borgo SL *is* San Luigi, so if you follow the signs for San Luigi along the white dirt road, the "strada bianca," you'll get there. You'll see it's worth it when you arrive.

Room Tip: Basic rooms are in the main building; deluxe rooms have access to their own patio.

“Tuscan paradise”

During the past three years, we have spent three great stays (about 10 days each) at Borgo San Luigi, in summer time, with our two young daughters (now 5 and 9 years old), and we always were delighted. This luxury resort is quiet and relaxing while being family-friendly. Junior suites are very comfortable and nicely decorated. The pool is large enough to swim peacefully (though a little bit cold). The hotel has a very large park in the middle of the beautiful Tuscan countryside. It is ideally situated a few miles from Siena and the Chianti villages, and also not far from Florence. Staff is kind, serious and very helpful.
But what we certainly enjoy the most at Borgo San Luigi is the quality of the food served by its restaurant: a superb buffet of Antipasti as well as delicious dishes prepared with high-grade local products and according to authentic Tuscan recipes.
We highly recommend this hotel, which, in many respects, bears comparison with many 5 stars.

Room Tip: Rooms with a terrace at the first floor are particularly pleasant

“It would take so little to make it better...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Stayed here with an Insight Tour. Grounds are lovely and I guess you could call our room Tuscan charming....but I really could have done without the mold in the bathroom. Upon arrival our luggage was loaded into an old van literally held together with crime scene tape. That was to get it up the driveway which we had to walk as it was too tight for the tour bus. Next morning a different van was loaded and then wouldn't start so the tour members had to push it to get it going back down the hill to the bus. Some members of our tour were in a room down a few steps with no windows....they dubbed it the dungeon. Others had to climb a spiral staircase to get to the bed. Can't believe Insight can't do better than this.

“Great service and true relaxation in Tuscany”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

You need a GPS to find this resort, but it worth the trip! Once you arrive, you receive a warm welcome with a brief tour of the complex and welcome drink. Nice appartment in a old building with all modern equipment like flat TV. Excellent service at the restaurant and the bar located near the large pool. Relaxation is garanteed on this huge but very quiet site where they bring your "spritz Aperol" in a shaded intimate area. Great location near vinyards. Breakfast was one of the best we had in our 3 week trip in Italy.

Room Tip: Second floor with a private balcony is interesting. They also have little cottages that might be int...
