“Great budget stay with bags of character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

Rooms are simple and have lots of character (at least our one did), with a lovely roof garden and terrace looking out onto the bay. It is located in the heart of the town, which is fully pedestrianised, so it was a bit of a trek getting all our luggage down in the midday heat, but well worth it. The rooms are clean and air-conditioned.

“I will return !”

The Electra pension is situated in the heart of Lindos village, with the donkeys walking past the front door ! Although only a ** rating don't be put off , this is home from home, the rooms may be basic but are spotlessly clean , we were in room no 5 which had 3 beds and opened onto the courtyard furnished with sun loungers and tables and chairs , ideal for sunbathing. All rooms have a bathroom and come with air con and a fridge, across the courtyard is a shared kitchen which is fully equiped with a toaster , kettles and two electric rings , perfect for making breakfast in the morning and snacks throughout the day . It is ideally situated for the beach , tavernas and shops . The owner and her family are always around , and make sure everyone is made welcome . I will definately return to the Electra as I enjoyed my stay there so much.

“Great Greek Accomodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2008

For people that don’t know Lindos, it may require a bit of an explanation. Lindos is a small village that has no traffic. All cars are parked outside of the actual village, and access for vehicles stops at one of 2 car parks just outside. Taxis and other vehicles enter to the Main Square and cannot park in the village. There are no roads beyond the 2 car parks only narrow paved passageways. Lindos is your stereotypical Greek village, white washed almost ‘sugar cubed’ properties on a hill side with an ancient Acropolis at the top and a beautiful sandy beach at the bottom. See the photo below.

No building work that will change the village is permitted, and a preservation order makes sure of that. It is for this reason that accommodation in the village is of the basic variety. Most properties have a pair of beds, maybe a small kitchenette (if not a fridge in your room) and a basic bathroom consisting of loo, shower (probably no tray) and a basin. In recent years to keep up with the expectations of today’s traveller modern hotels and apartments with pools and all ‘mod cons’ have been built at the top of another hill beyond the village. In my opinion the only way to experience Lindos properly is to stay in the village.

My trip in September 2008 was no exception and as always I stayed in the village. I travelled with a friend and we stayed in Pension Electra. Electra is 3 minutes walk from the Main Square, 5 minutes from the beach and is just off the donkey route to Pallas Beach on the way to the rather excellent Rainbird Bar.

Electra is owned by Chrysanthe and her family, they live in an apartment on the ground floor of the main property – they also own the Katholiki supermarket just opposite. In the main the holiday accommodation is literally rooms with shared bathrooms, but there are also a number of rooms that have ‘private facilities’ as well. In this case this means a private bathroom to which you have a key to get into it – but you have to leave your room to get to the bathroom. Again this is typical of some properties in Lindos.

Our room was spotless, was cleaned everyday except Sunday. The room consisted of 2 single beds, a huge wardrobe and a huge chest of drawers, a table and chairs , a very efficient air-conditioning unit and a fridge with water and orange juice in it when we arrived; but no kitchenette.

The bathroom was also spotless and was cleaned everyday as well. No shortage of hot water either – the shower even had a curtain and a tray so the bathroom didn’t get flooded everyday!!

The rate for our accommodation was €40 a night – including air conditioning. And even with the current GBP to € this represents great value. Chrysanthe and her family are very pleasant although she doesn’t speak great English! Her Italian daughter in law speaks much better English. If you wish to stay here you can turn up, there are directions on a sign in the Square or you can call ahead - [-].

“A Warm Welcome Awaits You”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2008

Basic accommodation, spotlessly clean with air conditioning and having the benefit of being right in the middle of the village.

  • Liked — Air conditioning, cleanliness, central in Lindos Village and close to beach
  • Disliked — Bathroom is outside of room but is private and, depending on which room you have, is only a footstep away.

“Home away from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2007

As you will see from other reviews this is locally owned. Christine who was alluded to in another post has passed away and willed the B&B to her cleaning lady, Maria.
The B&B is only open from probably April to the end of September. Maria lives in another town with her daughter in the off season. During the open months she lives on the main floor.
We were lucky to have the owner of the coffee shop by the traffic circle walk us to it. His name is Gregory and if you see him, tell him the Canadians said 'hello'. He didn't know too much but he called the number on the sign. She called him back and we stayed there mid November for a week.
The place is absolutly spotless with a spectacular view. We were in #10 (I think) which is the top front. It had a separate washroom you had to go outside to get to. There is A/C which we didn't need and as it is winter but we had a space heater which did a great job There is also an in suite fridge and table which came in handy.
If you park make sure you are legal. We didn't have an issue but you will in the summer as there are no cars in LIndos.
The B&B is handy to everything and was a memorable experience. Say 'hello' to Maria from the Canadians. She is an absolute delight.
