“Lindos.. what a beautiful place !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2009

Last month me, my mum, and other friends and family took a break from the busy lifestyle back in britain to travel to these beautiful apartments in Rhodes. The location is fantastic with just a 2 minute walk down to the beach and about a 2 minute walk into the market !!!! The lindos market has a passionate ambiance to it and has that greek feel to it. The restaraunts were roof gardens with amazing views all around you. We booked it as having a different hotel for the pools we had use of. If you're gonna walk up there to warn you it is obviously very hot and tiring. But you can get a quick taxi up there. In our part of the apartments we had our own courtyard that was surrounded by our rooms, it was brilliant. And the wildlife.. well... Outside our apartment door there was always a little green lizard!! And the second day we saw a snake in the same place !! Luckily it wasn't venomous. Overall Lindos is a calm, friendly place of Rhodes and I would reccomend it to any holiday maker :-)

“Lindos ,Lovely Lindos”

Having not visited Lindos for the last 10 years we thought it was time for a return trip and we were not disapointed.
Popis studios were in a great location just beyond Mavrikos taverna in the main square, and next door to a Supermarket and a taverna. The road was quite busy during the day due to all the traffic for the beach, as the car parking quite close but not off putting.. we didnt notice any unwanted noise during the night, infact, we found the position made the apartments an ideal spot. Our room was quite basic, as you would expect, but it did have a hair dryer, and a microwave (we didnt use the later ) !!. Air con was a bit of a con, but essential in the Aug/Sept heat, as they were experiencing freak humidity so it was well worth the 90 euros for 2 weeks.
Our room (no 5), was on one level , which Im glad about as the other 2 rooms round our courtyard were on 2 levels with Kitchen and bathroom on ground floor and bed upstairs.. so not user friedly with the stairs if you were un easy on your feet. Although there was not a view from the courtyard, you were never far from
a stunning view.
The beautiful village was just as enchanting as we remembered it and many of our favourite bars and tavernas were still there, all be it some had seen a 'bit of a make over', which meant they were a bit more expensive... but that didnt put us off visting our favourites over and over.
The highlight of our holiday was a meal (for my birthday) in the stunning Melenos Hotel, which I was determined to visit having viewed it here in the Uk on their website, it was fantastic, food, views, service all exceeded our expectations, they even put a candle in my desert and sang happy birthday to me !. The location is stunning and so discreetly tucked away under the acropolis so not at all obtrusive, well worth a visit for a special occasion.
For nightlife/food etc there are just too many wonderful places to visit, its hard to pin point a favourite, so what are you waiting for ?, get your skates on and have a holiday to remember in Lindos.

“Loved the Ambiance”

We booked this a couple of weeks before we went and absolutely loved it. The apartment we had, had a twin room downstairs with a (tiny) little kitchenette and upstairs was another twin bed room, and separate bathroom with half bath. It is one of the original Captains Houses and a minutes walk from the main drag, just off Yiannas bar. You do share the communal courtyard with the other guests, however we found it good to share our stories of the previous day with our very friendly co-habitees. The only minor complaints were that the walls were thin (you could hear your next door neighbours stirring their tea!) and the beds were hard. We only heard music from a bar one night and that was Okhi day, a national day. The sun shone every day and it was really lovely to be there out of season, but still everything was open, so a good choice of restaurants etc. We swam on all 4 beaches and even had to buy our twin 6 year olds snorkels, so that they could see the fish. Only ventured out to Lardos one evening for a change of scenery, but quite happy to be 'away from it all' encamped in Lindos. It really is a little world of it's own, away from everything. The accommodation is basic in Greece, so if you are expecting it to be 5 star luxury you will be dissappointed. But as far as authentic greece goes you'd be hard pushed to top this one!

“Pokey but ok”

We booked this holiday as a last minute thing, looking for guaranteed good winter sun - which we got. Everyday was really gorgeous - it really is a great time to visit Lindos if you need some sun (there's a bit of an urban legend that Lindos is a couple of degrees hotter than anywhere else on the island - which may be completely true).

We travelled with Libra Holidays (part of Thomas Cook) and flew out on a Matchbox version of a plane. I have never sat on such tight cramped uncomfortable seats ever before - FlyJet - avoid like the plague! We arrived in the early morning i.e. about 6am, short bus ride to Lindos (about an hour ish) and arrived as the sun came up. Its a difficult time to arrive - do you go to bed and lose most of your first day, go tothe beach and feel horrible later? We went to bed for a couple of hours and then went to the beach - so a bit of both really.

The apartments at first looked quite funky. They are right through Lindos Village (you arrive in Lindos at the top of a hill - get off the bus, walk down to your apartments/hotels, and your luggage gets sent on after.) and out the other side just opposite the little lane which leads to the big beach - so the positioning is really really good in that respect. (There is quite a steep walk down to the beach however - which is even steeper coming back). But they are right next door to a restaurant/bar - and if the bar stays open late then the music gets very very loud indeed at night - there is absolutely no chance of any sleep whatsoever. Not so bad late season, we only had one night where it went on until 4 ish in the morning, but if you go high - and I seriously doubt they will help.

The apartments themselves are surrounding a tiny courtyard with absolutely no views whatsoever - just a wall around them. They look pretty new-ish - in pine and white. We and our friends had one bedroom apartments and they are basically two rooms - one downstairs with a small kitchen area, a very small bathroom and a tiny area with a table, a small mirror (too high to allow you to sit at the table) and a hairdryer (which does work - and is ok).

Then odd steep pine stairs to the bedroom above with a exceedingly hard double bed - adequate wardrobe and storage space and a small mirror again.

Even smaller was the only window in the whole place - a tiny little box of a thing with bars at the window - either to stop us from crawling out onto the roof outside or to stop people from trying to get in.

Absolutely no views whatsoever, unless you count the oil canisters directly outside.

The small window means that the bedroom is quite hot - and again not so bad in off peak season but I imagine in peak season its like an oven, and you will then have to use the airconditioning - which is a whopping 50 euros for a week and 90 euros for a fortnight. There are no room fans - although I did see someone from our plane walking through the streets one day with one that he rented.

The cleaners were supposed to come in daily, and they may have done this, although it was pretty difficult to notice - there was thick dark hair on the stairs on a permanent basis and we didn't get our towels changed at all during that week. We think the bedding was changed once - not sure.

So basically, a great position to be in, but just not too sure on the apartments themselves - we probably would'n't stay there again, and nor would we fly with Flyjet, or travel with Libra.

The Flight home was at 6am in the morning - Libra wanted to pick us up at 3am in the morning. But they wanted us out of our rooms by 12 noon the day before, and our luggage ready to be taken up to Lindos Reception by the same time - a full 15 hours before we were due to come home. Outrageous.

When we asked to keep our rooms a little longer - we were offered the outstanding offer to keep them until 6pm that day (still nine hours before we were due to leave Lindos) for 25 Euros.

We went into town, found a small room to rent for the day for 30 Euros who let us stay there until we wanted to leave - 2:55am - five minutes before we were picked up. Far better - we kept our luggage with us, and it meant we could use the last day and evening, and get a few hours sleep, completely without worrying about our luggage, or anything else - but more importantly we felt cheated that we had to pay for our last night by ourselves and that it wasn't included in our holiday price (which really wasn't that cheap all considering).
