Booked this hotel in 2010 for my wedding in Sept 2011... oh how i wish i hadn't..!
We arrived at around 5:30am after our flight was delayed - only to be shouted at by the man on reception that we were late, and they had been expecting us sooner. We were then taken to a room on the 6th floor of the main building. The lift went as far as the 5th floor then we walked along a corridor and up a flight of stairs to our room. We struggled with all of our luggage (imagine a wedding party's luggage) and a sleepy child - many months before arriving i had emailed the hotel direct and asked for one of the lower blocks due to the sizes and ages of our party, i was told that my request would be accomodated. It wasn't! The room was far from suitable...
Balcony light was broken and reported but was never fixed so we couldn't sit on the balcony in the evenings.
Glass on the balcony had a large crack in it (we were 6 floors up - imadgine the danger if that gave way)!
The sink stand in the bathroom was broken and had plasters covering the sharp edges.
Mould on the bathroom window sill and in other areas.
Shower was cold every evening.
Shower curtain was very old and had holes in it.
The wires on the bedroom lamps were exposed.
Food:
Of 14 nights we ate in the hotel 5 times. The food was the worst i ever experienced. Myself and my son are vegeterians and expect there not to be much choice, but my husband will eat anything and even he couldn't stomach what was on offer. On our first evening he had spagetti bolognaise and said it was awful, it was just a lump of mince and tomato sauce, no vegetables or herbs. This standard of food continued each time we tried the food there.
On 2 of the nights we ate at the hotel they listed the food wrong.
1: I picked up 'mozzarella and vegetable pizza', which turned out to have bacon under some of the cheese. I approached the service manager and he simply shrugged it off and said 'mistake' when i showed him the sign and the pizza.
2: My son was about to eat the 'cheese pie', but another person in our party was also eating the cheese pie and said it tasted as if there was bacon or ham in it, we checked it and it had ham in it. As it was a pie we wouldn't have seen the bacon/ham until he spat it out, if atall. Again i told the service manager and he didnt even comment - he just walked off.
Italian and Chinese restraunt:
We booked into the Italian and was served (without being offered a menu or even asked what we wanted) - we were all given lasanga and told this was the only option as it was a set menu. When i advised them i was didnt at meat i was looked upon like i was an alien. I was then brought some vegetables in a tomato sauce, which i later found was from the main buffet restraunt (i walked though this on my way out). When i said could we have just a cheese pizza (as it is an Italian) i was told no - they only make pizza in the main buffet restraunt (the same pizza above that has meat on it). So we left. I spoke to the service manager as i had booked the chinese for the next evening and i wanted to make sure there would be something suitable to eat and i was told not to bother as they definitely dont have vegetarian options in the chinese.
Pools:
My sisters 3 year old child was getting into the childrens pool at the top end of the hotel, when the grid at the side of the pool gave way underneath her - she weighs around 2 stone so clearly this was not an issue with her weight. She hurt her knee as she fell down. We informed reception that it was broken and they said they would send someone to look at it. We were at the pool for about 3 hours and no-one came.
Not one member of staff cared about any of my issues, i felt like i talking to myself every time i spoke to them, they are not concerned about making the time for anyone who is English.
In the end we gave up and spent up to 100e extra each day on food / taxis to get the hell out of there (taxi to lindos and back = 20e) bus is not reliable, it is about 20 minutes walk to bus stop, then we waited for an hour and the bus didn't come.
First choice were, and since my return have been as much help as a pile of s**t! I am extremley dissapointed in their service and lack of customer care. This wasn't just a holiday, it was my wedding..!
