Modern hotel recommended to people with own car,have a little parking.The distance to central Merida is more or less 40 minutes by foot and in summer can be unbearable.Between two commercial centers,one a carrefour with a McDonald`s and the other bar-oriented and noisy with people and cars.
Big room and bathroom,clean but with a stunning kitsch decor,roman sheets,mirrors all over and with a olympic torch lamp included !Good a/c which is necessary,but water in tub changing hot to cold continuously,was impossible to keep one or another.Check in and out easy and friendly.

This is a weird building on an "out-of-town" shopping/dining complex.Well,its nearer the modern Merida but a 20 minute walk from the end of the roman bridge,40 minutes from the old part of the town.And a bit on its own,along with a supermarket and a couple of quiet restaurants low on character.Quiet in october,anyway.
Helpful staff but professional rather than friendly.

It was the only hotel in Merida on Tripadvisor with space but looking in town there would appear to be many more reasonable hostels that would have suited us better.
Maybe Merida is a destination for older more affluent travellers?

Stayed at the Tryp for a week earlier in the year. Staff very friendly and prices per night were very reasonable. Nice clean hotel with fair sized bedrooms / bathrooms.
The hotel is probably 20 - 30 minutes walk from the town centre - depending on how fit you feel and it is accessed by the back road over the old roman bridge. Taxi is only a couple of quid to Plaza d' Espania ( the main square ) and hotel will arrange them for you. There is a big Carrefour at the back of the hotel which is not the prettiest of sights, but doesn't really bother you (higher floors have better view over City). It is very handy, however, for supplies and cheap drink. There is a McDonald right by hotel and a small mall oppossitte with bars, resteraunts, bowling alley and few shops. Hotels position very handy for everything really and would definateley stay there again. Worth booking on Tryps / Sol Melia own website for best prices.
