“Loved it!”

Agreed, it's difficult to find, but well worth the effort! Located in the gypsy quarter, this place has all the moorish charm combined with mod cons you could wish for. The owner was very welcoming and informative and the food in the restaurant was fantastic! Would stay here again hopefully next time in warmer weather to enjoy the roof terrace and dining alfresco.

“Splendid!”

Jerez is not an easy town to find your way in, and therefore also quite difficult to find Chancilleria. But once arrived, an oasis of friendly , quiet, clean and comfortable rooms. The owner has a lot of good advises and arranges for breakfast by good weather ( not in our case) along the garden gallery. The restaurant in the hotel provides also a good choice of typical regional dishes at lunch or dinner at reasonable prices but high quality.

We will certainly go back here when we are in the south of Spain.

“Memorable Jerez”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

We decided on staying at the Hotel Chancilleria after reading TA reviews and are glad we did. It was in all ways, very comfortable and very good value for money. We chose not the most standard room, but one grade up and so there was a little more space - modern decor and very pleasant access areas and restaurant in the garden where we had a late lunch the day we arrived. The breakfast was one of the best we had in our two weeks in Spain, with lots of food, great variety and some very original offerings : figs and goat cheese one morning, for example. The management checks the breakfast buffet constantly to make sure everything is re-stocked. The staff were beyond helpful - they had booked tickets for us for Bodegas Tradicion and also for the Cartuja Horse Stud and had been helpful with advice and in answering our email queries which made the process of arranging our holiday so much easier. This personal touch makes all the difference. They gave advice as to where to go for real flamenco shows (not the tourist trap stuff) and best of all on our second night we were recommended to try a restaurant nearby. Unfortunately we don't remember its name but if you ask the owner they will tell you, because you would never find it on your own - it is Italian and has sketches of Michelangelo's David all around the walls ... it was the best meal we had in our two weeks in Spain.

While the hotel is in a narrow street, this is just par for the course if you are travelling in Spain and driving into city centre areas - we have certainly experienced much worse driving conditions in Seville, Granada and Cordoba - it's just something you have to accept, but if you have a map, it's do-able. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

“Central, clean, nice breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Well located in central Jerez. The owner is British and friendly. Good continental breakfast (wide variety with freshly squeezed orange juice). Welcome drink on arrival, which is always a nice touch. Our room on the top floor wasn’t large, but clean and modern with all the furnishings we needed. There is a pleasant roof terrace (albeit quiet), although be warned that the drinks are two or three times the price of any other bar you could go to very close by (which leaves a bad taste and so discouraged us from actually having a drink here, thereby making the roof terrance a bit pointless really).

Overall: it was nice enough for the price and we’d recommend it for that reason.
