“A real find”

Plenty of the other reviews will tell you how well this Hotel is placed in the oldest part of Jerez. What I wanted to emphasise is what a genuinely great experience it was to stay there. The rooms had been perfectly created so that they maintained the charm of this old building while also being very comfortable. Breakfast on the roof top terrace looking out over the roofs was a joy. However it was our host David who really made it. A kinder , more helpful, more knowledgeable man you would struggle to find. If you go make sure you stay a few days , theres plenty to see and do in jerez.

Room Tip: This being an Andalusian house with an internal courtyard don't expect an antiseptic modern hote...

“Perfectly placed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

La Fonda Barranco is in quick walking distance to the city centre, Cathedral, churches, bars and restaurants, shopping and Bodegas.
My home is so packed with "stuff" there is no longer space for even an aspirin but the very minimalistic and cool space of this old patrician house still appealed. For those that value somewhere dead central, impeccably clean with a charming and helpful Host over large, spacious but sterile accommodation, do come here. David could not do enough for us and was a tremendous friendly guide. The price is excellent and will definitely stay again on the next visit to Jerez.

Room Tip: Tell David exactly your needs and he will pair you with the right room.

“perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Finding La Fonda is not easy (although is an ideal location for walking around the city) but immediately on arrival we were made welcome I broke my wrist in Cordoba 4 days before and David simply could not do enough to help. Cups of tea were provided and luggage whisked away. Within no time David had worked out what we wanted to do in the beautiful city of Jerez. Upon his advice we went to Bodegas Tradición. David walked us to the bodegas, as we would have struggled to find it, and checked that our hire car was parked in a sensible place. the tour was out of this world...better than we could ever have hoped for. The sherry was perfect, well described tour and a truly outstanding art collection to gaze at. The recommendations that David gave for eating lived up to our expectations, especially as we where looking for diverse tastes.
The building is very old as has loads of original features. It's a bit like staying in a big house as you have access to most of the place and come and go as you like. As we were 2 couples, we had 2 rooms. Both of completely different style but equally well appointed. The roof terrace is small but very pretty. This is where breakfast is served and even in mid October it was lovely to sit there enjoying a delicious breakfast for cereal, fruit and toast..as much as you would like. During this David was more than happy to chat about your days plans (with loads of ideas) to the state of the EU. A very interesting, helpful and insightful man indeed.
If you are looking for an interesting, not chain hotel to stay in this is perfect.
Thanks for everything David

“Great small hotel in Jerez”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

We highly recommend La Fonda Barranco in Jerez. It is in walking distance to the downtown and the cathedral. Has a great owner, David, who knows exactly where to go for shopping, restaurants, bars, bodegas, and tours. He added a new and wonderful element to our stay. The only difficulty was finding the hotel, because of the lack of street signs in Jerez. No problem, just call David and he will come and get you.
