“Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2007

people found this review helpful

Good location, short walk to the sights and the action.
Seemed typical 3 star - room a bit odd though.
Pretty dark, had a private terrace but was just a concrete hot box. No view, no plants, just wall to wall concrete.
Room and bathroom clean, good shower pressure.
No Sat TV
Breakfast average - toast, juices etc
Internet access in reception is dinosaur dial up - took ages to page to load and you are charged in 10 min blocks.
Good lock up garage - very secure under the hotel, charged 17 euros.
Nothing wrong with this hotel, but maybe there are other places offering more value for money.

“Pefectly fine hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2007

A good hotel with very helpful staff, located 5-10 minutes walk from the centre of old Jerez. Rooms were fine although a little dark; the facilities were all working and everything was very clean. Breakfast was fairly simple; a selection of juices, cereals, cakes and toast, plus tea/coffee. It was provided for free though, so no complaints. Parking for a people carrier required a little manouevering to get into the garage.

“Very poor for 3 stars”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2007

I wonder how Albarizuela got 3 stars: maybe just because they have a fairly modern entrance, otherwise difficult to understand. We had booked a double room, and after staying in the magnificent Barcelo Jerez the night before we knew we would have to lower our expectations- but this was too poor. To start with, and worst of all, the room was very dark which created an atmosphere of being in a third world country. It was even impossible to read!. Impossible to find the remote for the TV either. Furniture looked old. The bathroom was clean, but I guess this is the minimum you can expect.
Then, the service was not very helpful: i asked the guy in reception for some tourist info and he told me i could check myself on the internet: a very old PC with dial-up connection. And they tried to charge me for using that 10 minutes... (it would have taken 30 secs with broadband).

My advice: if you go to Jerez, don't stay in La Albarizuela. For the same price, and also 3 stars, there is Hotel Tierras de Jerez, much more decent and reasonable (I stayed there two nights). And if you are ready to pay a bit more, check the Barcelo Jerez (4 stars), it really makes a difference.
