I wonder how Albarizuela got 3 stars: maybe just because they have a fairly modern entrance, otherwise difficult to understand. We had booked a double room, and after staying in the magnificent Barcelo Jerez the night before we knew we would have to lower our expectations- but this was too poor. To start with, and worst of all, the room was very dark which created an atmosphere of being in a third world country. It was even impossible to read!. Impossible to find the remote for the TV either. Furniture looked old. The bathroom was clean, but I guess this is the minimum you can expect.
Then, the service was not very helpful: i asked the guy in reception for some tourist info and he told me i could check myself on the internet: a very old PC with dial-up connection. And they tried to charge me for using that 10 minutes... (it would have taken 30 secs with broadband).
My advice: if you go to Jerez, don't stay in La Albarizuela. For the same price, and also 3 stars, there is Hotel Tierras de Jerez, much more decent and reasonable (I stayed there two nights). And if you are ready to pay a bit more, check the Barcelo Jerez (4 stars), it really makes a difference.
