“A traditional style hotel in a great location and at an amazing price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

The Nuevo is a family-run hotel. An old building, it has an elegant foyer and its decor has a lot of traditional Spanish charm Augustin, at reception, spoke excellent English and was most helpful with all of our needs. The location is very central and leaves you in proximity to the main attractions of Jerez. Our room was pleasant with a good bed - street noise being the only shortcoming. The included breakfast is self-service. The price, at €40 for a double, is simply amazing value for money. It would represent good value at €60! I just don't understand how they can offer such an amazing price. Don't let the low price put you off - this is a good hotel in a great location - jusy wear ear plugs in bed.

“full of character, and good position”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2010

The hotel was designed and built (by the present owner’s grandfather, I think he said), as a hotel, in the twenties, and this past still shows in a host of ways – the proud name, the traditional local (Moorish-type, I think) arrangement of the rooms round a light well, the steep marble stairs, the obviously personally chosen pictures on the landings (this was the only time that I can remember that I’ve ever enjoyed looking at the paintings in a hotel)… I liked it very much. Good, helpful people (who speak English), breakfast fine (you poke your head into the kitchen from the breakfast room and they toast you a bread roll), a computer where you can check your email when you want,. Position excellent, not at all expensive. If I go to Jerez next year, I’ll stay at the Nuevo Hotel again.

“Perfect for budget travellers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2010

Hotel was clean and nice with small balconies, located in the centre.Staff were helpfull: showed us main directions and kept our luggage for some hours before our departure. The only thing that breaked the peace in the mornings was cars and people noise from the street, that starts at 7 :) But from other hand it was good reason to wake up early and to explore city that was beautifull :)

“Not Nuevo Hotel but Viejo Casa!”

Odelette 'the receptionist was very helpful & co-operative. Pleasant, cheerful & knowledgeable. As the hotel & area was very quiet she kindly offerred us a choice of bedrooms-we picked a quiet one.The hotel is an interesting old building-nothing pretencious (very basic bathroom & bedroom) but clean & in an excellent position for walking & eating.
Everything in Jerez, except for the Bodegas, come to a standstill about one o'clock! I was disappointed not to see the cathedral on arrival( short morning opening hours & no notice board outside) but was priviledged to be invited by the choir to listen to their rehearsal about 9-ish. Lovely group of people.
The Barrio Antiguo is fascinating but also sad that so many buildings are delapidated & empty-money is short for restoration.
We did the Tio Pepe Bodega "Jolly" which we enjoyed. When buying tickets do not get sucked in to pay for Degustacion & Tapas. Two glasses are in the ticket price but Tapas are slices of cheese & jamon. cheaper elsewhere.
Best place? The iglesia de San Miguel near the hotel-phenomenal church! Incredible altar with 3-d sculptures (including Inferno & Demonios from The Apocalypse in Bible.)
Three charming & delightful retired gents (parishoners) are trying to raise some money for the upkeep of St Miguel. Note the silver altar in the chapel on the left."Donativos "means Donations-please donate something if you can.
Breakfast at Hotel Nuevo is very basic but ok as a kick-start to exploring.
Excellent Menu del Dia at 8.50 at PARRA VIEJO on c/ll San Miguel between church & Hotel.

We booked this hotel by e-mail, no deposit required. Double room without breakfast - 40 Eur. Building is very centraly located, 2 min. walk to the ceter of Jerez. Interior is not modern, but nice, has it's charm. Rooms are outdated, but not too small, high ceiling, clean, and have comfy double beds. Many of rooms have tiny balconies. Parking is on the street, if you can find place. Don't forget to pay for parking during the weekdays, couple of times saw policemen checking presence of parking tickets. If you plan to sleep longer in the morning, ask for the room facing right side of the building and close the window, it will help reduce the morning noise of the mopeds.
