“Don't stay!! not a 4 star hotel!! Hotel Malo!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

I have been meaning to write a review about this place for a while, im catching up on my reviews now, but this place is not worth your money! we even got a "deal" on it and regret taking it. For starters, the reception area is deceiving, the rooms are no where near as nice! The room was very basic, our window was facing the inside of the hotel - and our view was concrete and other peoples rooms. Hotel staff weren't very helpful when we asked to be moved, apparently they were booked out (i doubted this). The pool area was pretty, however the pool area was outsourced to a company - so not run by the hotel. The Bar staff were rude and crap at making drinks, they didnt know how to make a long island ice tea! they filled plastic cups of beer half way and refused to top up! the spa/jacuzzi was filthy dirty, water almost brown! to add to this, on the sunday the company had its own private party, so the area was packed out, we couldn't even get a deck chair or a chair in general to sit on, the people attending the party had wristbands on, so they got priority service at the bar, which really annoyed me! i had to insist they serve me after waiting 20 minutes at the bar!! My first language is spanish, so atleast there wasn't a complete breakdown, however when my partner tried ordering a drink in spanish, he is Australian, the staff were rude and refused to understand him, its not hard to say or understand "una cerveza".

Anyway, all in all - really bad place to stay, spend your money elsewhere!!!!!!

Room Tip: don't stay!!!

“Nice Hotel - however, unable to get a coffee between 11am and 6pm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2011

Nice roomy bedroom with 6ft bed - comfortable. Rooms noisy - could hear activity outside bedroom (and the man in the next room snoring!!!!! Ugh!) Shower good. Hotel very mean with gels/soap. One tiny soap for 4 days (gone day one between the two of us - not replaced) Gels barely replaced! Really good choice of breakfast, from hot scrambled eggs/rashers etc to cold meats, cheeses, fruit. Delicious!
Unfortunately Staff did not speak very good English, or perhaps just did not understand us? ie (one instance) advised us Mass in Cathedral Sun at 12 - there was not!
20 minute walk into town centre.
Between breakfast ending at 11am and the Bar opening at 6pm, it was not possible to get a cup of coffee in the Hotel.
'Restaurant' menu more like Coffee shop menu - did not eat dinner there but walked up the road to Italian restaurant (Mama Mia - I think) where they had delicious pizzas. Friends of ours were staying in the Sherry Park (they could not get coffee during the day either (??)) Would probably try that Hotel if I was returning (prices similar), hotel looked more luxurious - however, I do not envisage another trip to Jerez. Quiet, uneventful town - no bus tour available.

“Our experience here overall was a positive one”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2011

We booked a jr. suite here for two nights due to a great rate on booking.com. However, when we arrived, even though I had mentioned that we had reserved a jr. suite, we were were first taken to a "superior double' room. It didn't look quite right to me, so I went back to the front desk, and the error was quickly rectified. The room was very large and the bathroom was luxurious and very well laid out - in fact the bathroom was one of the nicest of our trip through Southern Spain (which included stays at the Alfonso XIII in Seville and Westin Palace in Madrid). Overall, the hotel has seen better days, but it was pefect for our situation. We wanted to spend time at the Royal Andulusian School of Equestrian Art (which is quite close) and it is also close to several other bodegas. We easily drove downtown to the Tio Pepe bodega too. Breakfast was included in our rate.
Negatives: parking was free, but limited parking lot in the front of the hotel area, so sometimes street parking is needed. Free wifi in room, but we don't take our computer on vacations -- there was only one computer in the lobby for free guest use - often, someone else was using it.

“Ok hotel”

We paid on average about €70/75 a night for this hotel. The breakfast was fine - good selection but the hot food was very below average. The hotel is decorated in an older style which is fine. There is a computer in the lobby with free internet but it was painfully slow!!!!! The hotel is well outside the centre - about 20 mins - 30mins walk to the bus station and centre. We strolled in and out every night and actually enjoyed the walk, otherwise about €5 in a taxi. The pool was the big attraction for us, however this is the big BUT !!!!!!! It is not exclusively for the use of the guests and there are a very limited number of sun loungers - about 20 max!!! The pool opens around 10 / 11 and at the weekend every local mid 20 year old is in, grabbing the sun loungers for the day and having great fun with their mates who work there. I found this really annoying as that was a big reason why we booked the hotel. At night Terraza Guadalete, the pool area - comes to life, pumping out seriously loud tunes so if you like an early night or have little kids this could be a problem if you are on that side of the hotel. To be fair we were at the far side and heard nothing. Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful - however staff at pool terrace laft alot to be desired. It is definately trying to be a hip, cool bar/club for the locals and the pool terrrace is a serious free for all. Room was clean and comfortable.

“This hotel could be fantastic however they have serious service issues”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

We stayed here for a couple of nights break as we were having our house renovated and needed to get away.

We booked a superior double room and were not disappointed - the room was spotlessly clean, the bathroom was beautiful green marble and we had a small outside terrace. It was rather a strange set up as the rooms were one floor down from reception and we seemed to be in a semi basement.
The public areas are beautiful and very well kept but the staff are not at all friendly and any request gave the impression that we were asking for some sort of favour. The first night we ate in the restaurant and my meal had to be returned as the pork was very undercooked.
The gardens and pool area are again beautifully maintained but the service here for drinks are virtually non existant.
We also used the lobby bar/snack bar but again got the impression that we were an inconvenience for the hotel staff.
Breakfasts were served in a large room in the basement and were buffet style - I agree with previous posts that the food was expensive although we had an inclusive rate so it made no difference to us but I have seen much better buffets for quality and selction of food available.
There is limited free parking available on site.
When we checked out they were unable to print out a copy of our invoice for us to check as the printer on reception did not work - they did however mail us a copy.
I would stay here again but just to use the hotel as a base and not use any of the food/beverage outlets if I could avoid them. In fact I probably would try some place else,
