“Good hotel - but don't expect to get any sleep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Caceres is a town which is difficuly to navigate round and we eventually found the Hotel Extremadura. The room rate was 81 euros plus car parking at 12 euros a night, not unusual as Spanish towns are a nightmare to park in.
The hotel is in a good location on a main route and it's an easy fifteen minute walk down to the old centre with its many restaurants and bars in the Plaza Mayor. Our room was on the sixth floor overlooking the Avenida Ruta de la Plata.
We'd had a lovely evening and strolled back to the hotel where we found many people on the pavement next to the hotel. We thought they were just visiting the local bars and so we went to bed. In the room there was a rhythmic thumping noise and the now dozens of people stayed on the pavement outside laughing, chattering and shouting until 5am, when they slowly dispersed to the accompaniment of blaring car horns. The room's double glazing only reduced the noise slightly. We think the noise came from a disco club next to the hotel. This was on a Thursday evening in mid October so goodness knows what it's like in summer or at weekends!
At breakfast there was a very good selection although we had a long wait before we were shown to a table, the cooked food was cold and the staff were not very friendly.

This was a good hotel and we would have stayed longer but we had to move on to get some sleep.

Room Tip: Maybe a room on the opposite side of the hotel would be quieter but you would still get the thumping...

“On Tour in Europe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

This Hotel we used on the 4th/5th October as part of our travels around Europe. The Hotel is a modern and up to date place situated within the City but very easy to find. Parking is not an issue as it has a large underground location, which is a paid for service, but well worth the cost for both security and temperatures, it was 35c on our visit. The room we had was very good with comfortable bed and air conditioning and very well appointed. It is only a short walk from the Hotel through the City's Paseo de Canovas, a seating and meeting style green area and park in the heart of the City, to the main attraction here of the old City walled area itself. There is a large square at the base area of this old city where there are many restuarants so you can spend a very pleasant evening here.
We had only breakfast at the Hotel served in their main restuarant area and this was very good. Our experience here was very good.

“Awful, don't bother”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

A complete let down
After booking a double room we got a small twin room
No iron
No tea/coffee making facilities
A cab ride is needed to the centre
There are most definately better hotels, this is not a 4 star!!!!

“Good hotel - recommended!”

If you arrive by car, then this hotel is very well situated. It's on the road in from Salamanca. Our twin room was spacious and the hotel was very clean. The old town of Caceres is within ten-fifteen minutes relaxed walking from the hotel. There are supermarkets nearby and the countryside around Caceres is stunning. One thing to keep in mind: at the time of writing (April 2006), car parking in the excellent underground car park costs 10 euros [plus tax] per day.

“Okay for business people. Not for tourists.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2004

The hotel is located about 20 min. walk from the city centre. It has the advantage of an underground parking. It also has a swimming pool, but during our stay I wouldn't even go near it. And that was not because it was too cold. The water and tiles were green.

The room is nice, has a wooden floor. This of course means that you hear everything! Beautiful bathroom though.

The breakfast was held in a meeting room, which could have used some decoration. The selection was okay. I expected a bit more for a 4-star hotel.

The hotel is perfect for business people, but not for tourists.
