When we first arrived things seemed ok, the room seemed what you would expect. However, the room was cold and the heating didn't seem to work but as we were staying for one night and had a long journey it didn't seem worth complaining. On going to bed the mattress on one side sagged.
The restaurant was overpriced and extremely poor quality for the food. The service was awful, the restaurant didn't open till 7pm so we thought we would get a drink in the bar before eating but we waited at the bar a while and no-one came to serve us despite a number of hotel employees seeing us standing at the bar which was supposed to be open but they did nothing. We decided to go back to the room and wait till we could eat. When seated for dinner the waiter took our room number and asked if we wanted the food charged to our room which we agreed to. During our dinner, service was also poor and when we had finished feeling very disappointed at our overpriced very poor meal and there was no waiter in sight for ages we decided to return to our room. A few minutes later we had a telephone call from the waiter which we couldn't really understand and he ended up coming up to the room. We said that they could charge the food to the room but he didn't seem happy with this. We were then 'frog marched' down to reception like criminals to pay the extortionate amount for our food and were told by the waiter 'this isn't my job I work in the restaurant not the hotel'.
We had a long journey the following day and so got up in time to get breakfast the earliest we could at 6.30am. We went into the restaurant for breakfast and found a typical selection of continental food. There was also a hot plate which said it contained eggs, bacon and sausage etc but there wasn't any there and there were no chefs in the kitchen for the whole 30 minutes that we sat there to have breakfast. Equally the supposedly boiling water for tea, and hot milk were both not hot more tepid.
As a hotel to just rest you head and nothing else it is ok. But usually after any sort of journey you need food and after walking around the area it is clear that there are no other places to eat or see there and so you really have no choice but to eat at the hotel. Location isn't great at all you would need transport to go somewhere. This was paid for by the company as an overnight stay for a business trip and therefore location to us didn't really matter. However, if you were sight seeing or going for holiday then this is a poor location.
