“Nice hotel.. Just about 4*”

stayed here for a long weekend.. booked the superior room with seaview(actually estuary). Room was spaciousand clean... Bed was very comfortable and the walk in shower was one of the best we've had.. Worth noting that due to the large walk in shower there was no bath.. The other advantage of the superior room was the tea making facilities(apparently not available in th normal rooms!).. We had a kettle but nothing else... No problem we'll have a bottle of water from the mini bar..Errr no we wont.. empty minibar.. These oversights were, however, corrected the next day(?). Didn't eat dinner in the restaurant so cant comment, but ate breakfast most morning in the basement restaurant. Breakfast was pretty good. Other reviewers mentioned the nespresso coffee machine which was a nice touch though as the hotel was almost full when we stayed there was alway a long queue waiting to use it.. Perhaps more nespresso machines if they're proving that popular? Didn't get an opportunity to use the pool facilities so can't comment. The hotel location was a little further away from the town centre than I thought and as it was raining most days we were there we drove into the town centre but if you wanted to walk and knew your way around you should be able to walk it in 15 minutes.
Although the hotel offers parking the parking at the hotel is limited with the "overspill" car park across the road. The parking problem was worsened somewhat by the fact that they the hotel has spa facilities open to the general public.
All in all, we found the room very comfortable but it was just the little details that let this hotel down a tad. Would I stay there again? I would probably pick another hotel just so that I would be nearer the centre.

“Let down by the restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

Everything about this hotel is good other than the main restaurant was once again a disappointment, having said that the room service meal was fine. Very nice pool, which never seems crowded. Some marvellous furniture in the bar and some very interesting artwork on the walls everywhere.

“Mercure Hotel Yes, But Not So Grand!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Le Touquet on the 26th November was beautifully decorated for Christmas! The illuminations were beautiful and classy as befitting this resort!Parking is difficult due to shoppers but the hotel hires bikes and its not to far to walk to the centre! The hotel looked impressive when we arrived. Anyone with an interest in art will be very impressed with the large amount of original art exhibited-its very interesting and unusual. What let the hotel down was the lack of attention to minor repairs that needed taking care of in the rooms-things that could be put right cheaply and quickly. We were also very unimpressed by the lack of service in the bar in the late afternoon- two young ladies on duty werre more interested in reading a newspaper than serving and we had to go to the bar to actually order drinks! In the evening staff on duty in the bar also failed to acknowledge our presence and we left the bar without orderfing! If these factors could be put right, the hotel would deserve its four star rating!

Room Tip: Ask for a bay view room and extra pillows-the pillows are as thin as biscuits!

“theft”

I've just seen the review from september when several rooms were targeted together when all the party were using the pool - which suggests staff may be involved.

When we stayed there, after swimming I happened to leave a bag with my two daughters' not cheap (GAP) dressing gowns in the bar. I went back no more than 20 minutes later to be told that they had been given to reception. When I got to reception they denied all knowledge....we never saw them again. Funny that.

“Must have been staying at a different hotel to the likes of Mr Fussy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

Either that or I am easily pleased.

Had serious concerns after reading alot of the negative comments on here regarding this hotel. Thankfully I didn't let them put me off.

I found the staff very pleasant and friendly, with a free shuttle service into the town centre provide on request. The communal areas are very well designed, they have clearly spent alot of time and money on these parts. Pool and spa areas also worth packing your Speedos for.

Overall would highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay here. The negative comments about this hotel are just another reason that Trip Advisor is getting so much negative press these days.
