Stayed at Saxildhus for a couple of nights on a business trip. It is an old-school hotel with heavy furniture, thick carpets and heavy metal keys ;o). Quite the opposite of the usual efficient business hotel style. Lots of historic pictures on the walls from the 50's and 60's where the hotel was a well known bakery / café.

Location is good and the staff were kind and friendly.

I enjoyed my stay there - value for money is good and it was a welcome break to experience the old historic building compared to a new glitzy airconditioned hotel.

The historic building of the Saxildhus makes a few wood cracking sounds and such but the surroundings and cleanliness are nice. The staff was very polite and the breakfast was better than average. If there are any complaints about the Saxildhus it would be the parking and noise. With the train station across the street and a few bars close by it was a bit noisy and the parking was cramped and hard to find a spot. Kolding is a nice town that offers a good variety of eating options and centrally located for a stop along the way towards Copenhagen or Hamburg.

This place feels like home, the staff certainly makes you feel at home. The furnishing with original italian furniture gives the hotel an authentic, cosy atmosphere. I spent the night in a beautiful canopy bed - unforgettable! Breakfast buffet is fantastic.Location could not be better, close to Koldinghus (old castle fortress), the spa Dronning Dorotheas Badstue and downtown (and right opposite the train station). Great way to visit Kolding!

I really don't understand how this hotel gets away with a 4 star rating. The exterior is faded and crumbling and the interior is worse. An earlier review used the term 'old and scabby' and that just about sums it up. Our room was described as 'luxurious' but stuck in the attic looking out through a tiny window at the local railway station..
