Have stayed there sevaral times before om business trips. Now the hotels aquaparadise has had a complete makeover and is now turned into a fantastic caribbean style paradise with water slides, several jacuzzis, pool, steamroom, sauna located outside the building and of course a nice poolside bar.

The bar in the lobby area is at wintertime quite cold, when the temparature is around zero degrees and the nice staff could not make the butangas operated furnace work.

Breakfast is as always a nice experience at Scandic operated hotels and the staff always nice and freindly.

The rooms are nice with wooden floors - only complaint is the funny way the shower enclosure works, no mater how yoy do it, the entire floor gets soaked.

The towels are quite small and if you would like a big towel, that costs another 2 euro.

Will definitely come again

The hotel is located near the center of town and easy walking distance from the train station and ferry departure site. Our room was very nice and clean. The woodwork and wooden floors were especially attractive. The bathroom was modern and good size. The woman at the check in desk was not the most friendly and helpful. When we booked our room two months earlier they started serving breakfast at 6:30 and at check-in they informed us it was now 7:30 on weekends. Since the ferry to Gothenborg leaves at 7:30 I could not understand why they had done this since so many people take it and obviously would like to eat breakfast before they go. She said she could not do anything for me and refered me to the restaurant manager. After talking to this person she agreed to make us a special breakfast and have it ready at 6:30. The breakfast turned out to be superb with everything you could imagaine and really enough food to last all day. Plus the man at the desk in the morning was especially nice and helpful. There are alot of children at the hotel because of the water park, but they never bothered us and the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. In the future I strongly suggest that the hotel go back to serving breakfast at 6:30 to accomodated the many people traveling by ferry to Sweden and Norway. I am an experience traveler who is not afraid to speakup when service is not what it should be, but unfortunately many people do not. Overall what could have been a very bad experience turned out to be a very good stay because of a restaurant manager who took the time to make sure we had a good stay. Lastly, double check your room rate at check-in time to see that it is what you booked it at. They had us for a higher rate that we had bookded at and luckily I was able to produced the booking confirmation sheet and get the lower booking rate, but only after I asked to see the hotel manager. Once again the woman we checked in with had been rude and not helpful.

Unfortunately when we arrived in this town it was Sunday so most of the shops and restaurants were closed - however it was a very cute town but very small. The hotel description was a bit misleading since it said it was "on the beach" - however, this is not true. It is in the town and there are really no hotels on the beach. The hotel lobby was very nice and the "reef" swimming pool area with hot tubs and slides was amazing but the hotel rooms were less than average. Breakfast was not included in this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel unless you had children and were interested in the swimming pool. We did make the most of it and enjoyed the waterslides/hot tub and sauna! I'm not sure I would have visited Friedrikshavn since the train ride was not very scenic from Copenhagen so we probably should have taken the train straight to Gotenberg instead. We also checked out the Jutlandia hotel while we were there and I would NOT recommend this hotel - the entire hotel smelt like smoke (it must have been a smoking hotel previously).

As previous person Said about the reception, it's true! There is poor service, they are rude in the reception! No schampoo in the shower so bring your own!
