Even though the hotel is approved by Jamie Oliver, the dinner served at the hotel needs improvement. Breakfest is good and the view (if you get a room on the right side) is beautiful.

Just returned from Denmark and must say when I arrived and saw the building I thought the worst. However I was pleasantly surprised, this is a very good hotel.

Check-in most efficient and the room was comfortable enough, could open the window fully even on the 3rd floor, so the health and safety police haven't raided them yet.

The breakfast was one of the best I have had, massive choice, and a great veiw from the breakfast room.

The staff in the restaurant were terrific as is the food, and good value too, not sure what the others on this forum were complaining about. A la carte menu for less than £30 including a drink is ok by me.

Others complain about noise, but I didn't notice any, however the hotel seems to have two halves, one for holiday makers and one for business people, so ask for a quiet bit. They do however provide new earplugs in the room, so maybe..

Randers is worth exploring, there is a starred walk you can follow:

I have stay at the Scandic Kongens Ege around a 100 times, so I am a regular you could say.

The good things first. The staff, they are all extremely friendly, helpful and serviceminded, specially the girls in the reception will go a long way to make sure you have a pleasant stay.

The location, the hotel is located only a few 100 meters from the center of Randers, close to the new cinema, the shopping street and the main restaurant street (the guy who placed the hotel on the edge of town was wrong).

The view, if you get a room that faces the city you have a wonderful view of the city.

You have the typical big free Scandic breakfast, and a restaurant that is above avarage.

The bad things:
The hotel is pretty worn down, and in need of restauration.
Its very noisy and earplugs are standard in all rooms.

Its my Hotel of choice when I have to stay in Randers, and I have tried both Hotel Randers and Hotel Kronjylland

Stayed here last week on business for 1 night. The hotel is very worn and in need of an update, but the rooms and bathroom were clean. I did have a slight problem with my room, in that I couldn't lock it from the outside! When I rang reception, a very friendly and apologetic lady answered and quickly found me a new room. I got the sense that this was a fairly regular problem.

I ate in the restaurant that evening and although the menu was limited, the food was of a good quality - I had a very good steak. Overall an ok hotel for business but wouldn't stay here on holiday.
