The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from Wokingham rail station, almost in sight from the platform but a welcome walk following a long train journey. Reception is accessed from 'The Artsbar' which is where meals are taken and is a light, airy modern cafe-bar. Travelling as a lone female1st impressions are an important part of a comfortable stay; I was greeted by friendly, helpful staff and a welcoming environment. I find, sometimes, in the restaurants in some of the larger chain hotels I feel obvious and am uncomfortable eating alone, but that was certainly not the case here. It was obvious that the staff are accustomed to having single travellers and creating a relaxed atmosphere for them. The food was good quality, well cooked and the menu had a good range to choose from at very reasonable prices.
The bedroom was very roomy, clean and well maintained, a hair-dryer is supplied and there is a power socket in easy reach of a mirror. The bathroom had a bath with shower over it, there were guest toiletries and a good light over the mirror.
Proximity to the railway was something that I thought might have been a problem for noise but it wasn't and I enjoyed an undisturbed good night's sleep.
