“Tired!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Looks OK from the outside. A bit dissapointing on the inside. Reception staff were pleasant enough. Bar staff were either not there or inattentive (out the back chatting, etc). My room (the best room they could give me as a Priority Club Platinum Member) had wall paper peeling off the walls in places, patchy paintwork in places, damaged furniture, worn carpet. Old CRT TV (circa 1988). I was under the impression that Holiday Inn updated all of their hotels over the past couple of years (hence the updated logo etc) - but this one has clearly been left in the 1980s Time Warp. The rest of the hotel is also tired (e.g. 1970s carpet).

All in all, a pretty dissapointing hotel. Definitely not worth the money. Don't stay there unless you are completely stuck. I know I won't be back......

Room Tip: Stay at a different hotel!!

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us, and I am concerned over your suggestions that the bedroom was presented in such an appalling way as we regularly audit and maintain our rooms to the standards regular guests have come to expect of us. On investigation we cannot locate any room as described in your review, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to follow up on details outlined in your feedback and would be grateful to you if you could contact me at the hotel in order that I can gather more information from you.

“Pleasant Enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Stayed here for the first time in January 2011, as a regular user of Holiday Inn's I found it better than some, worse than others.

Staff at reception were very pleasant but there seemed to be a shortage of staff overall as I had to wait at the bar with other people for over 5 mins for a staff member to appear, even then they probably only came as I walked over to reception to ask where the bar staff were.

Rooms were pretty good, clean, comfortable beds, the only down point was the old CRT tv which had a rolling black line going round and round on the screen, plus someone next door complaining to reception about the noise from my tv, even tho it wasnt up loud I can only assume the walls are pretty thin. The tv's need replaced tho.

I didnt try any food.

The car park was massive so easy to get spaces close to the entrance and the hotel was easy enough to find location wise.

A nice touch was offering platinum members a choice of a free drink, extra points voucher or a goodie bag of choclate and soft drink, never seen that in any other Holiday Inn

Id stay again if in the area but wouldnt go out of my way.

I am so glad that you felt valued as one of our priority club members. We have drawn out all the positives from your review, location, staff friendliness, clean, comfortable beds and great car parking facilities. It would appear our bartender was changing the beer barrel, I hope the delay in getting your drink will not deter you from using us in the future. Thanks again!

“Holiday Inn Corby”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed here for 3 nights 29th Jan to 1st Feb 2012. I found the room to be clean and spacious, didn't sleep very well though as the floor was probably more comfortable than the matress. Usual room comforts of Tea n Coffee facility and a T.V. The T.V. however was old and the picture wasn't fantastic. Large carpark but very poorly lit!! On the big plus side was complimentary wifi and very friendly staff.
Food wise I ate out most nights through choice so I can only comment on breakfast which is self service and has a wide selection. another plus being if something you want isn't on the menu or buffet service it's worth asking. I asked for and got my porridge :0)
Finally this hotel has a modern gym and pool facilities which are available to guests.
Would I stay here again? YES!!!

“Loved it!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Loved it, loved it, loved it....we've just come back after spending the weekend there so my son and his mates could go to Adrenaline Alley Skatepark, which is literally 2 minutes away door to door (we timed it). The staff are fabulous, very polite and helpful, the food is lovely we turned up late for both breakfast and dinner but was greeted with smiles and the food was prepared fresh no matter what time it was. We made full use of the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, so did the boys and they loved it. Would recommend to anyone thinking about staying there, in fact have already done so to friends. The 12 pm check out is great although we are Priority Club members so could check out at 2 pm which gave us a chance for a last minute dip in the pool before hitting the road, great for the kids. I will definitely be returning for our next trip up there. A massive thank you to everyone who made us very welcome and our stay very comfortable :))
