“Great Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed at the Cavalieri hotel early January, I was apprensive after reading the reveiws, but need not have been as every thing was great.
The receptionists were polite and very effiecent, (they could smile a bit more)
The check in paper work was swift, was told the room would not be ready until 1430 that was no problem, nice views whilst having a drink. The room allocated to us on the 7th floor over looking the bay had problems, but on reporting them to reception and maintenance failing to fix all the problems we were allocated a room on the 4th floor which had an equally excellent view.
Breakfast was extensive and catered for all tastes, did not have any other meals at the hotel as we were visiting family. Room and the hotel was cleaned ever day even around the swimming pool!
In short an excellent holiday at a great hotel, hope to be going back in May.

“Over booking, however, dealt with swiftly”

My boyfriend and i arrived at the hotel (June 2011) in the morning and there were around 10 members of reception staff behind the desk. Don't think i seen anybody smile or look friendly, a bit intimidating as there were 10 of them standing not doing anything. We handed over our accommodation voucher and we could tell right away that there was something wrong. I previously read all these reviews and i had a feeling that we would be told they were over booked. Right enough, they looked confused and told us to take a seat as our room wasn't ready yet and wouldn't be until 3pm. We sat near the reception desk and a male manager approched us and appoligised that the hotel was over booked and that they would be sending us to Intercontinental Hotel, a five star, which is an upgrade. As i knew in my gut that this was going to happen i actually wasn't too bothered because i previously looked up the Interconintental and thought it looked fantastic. The manager couldn't have been more helpful and brought us refeshments whilst we waited on a taxi to take us to the Intercontinental. He said he would take care of the taxi, pay for it and also contacted our transfer and rearranged it for us. The whole situation lasted under one hour and didn't need to wait long on the taxi. Although the situation is appauling what happened as we did not book this hotel, they couldn't have helped us more.

I'm giving the hotel a rating of 3 because we didn't stay there. The hotel reception was spotless and airy with comfy seating and free wifi, which was good so i could look at the hotel we were going to. We stepped outside onto the balcony which faced the sea which was lovely, just ashame we weren't going to use it.

If you were going to book this hotel, i would call the hotel direct to ask them if they have your booking confirmed. I would even call a couple of times on the run up to your holiday as you won't want to be dissapointed.

“Lovely staff, great location, shame about the hotel”

*Travelled in Sept 2010 - would not let me go back further than Feb 2011 when submitting my review!!
I thought I wrote a review on this ages ago but it never showed up (or else I cant find it!!) Anyway, we stayed at the Cavalieri for our wedding (elsewhere) in Sept 2010. On arrival ours and some of our guests rooms were not ready which wasn't really a big deal as we had lunch while we waited.

When our room was ready we went up and it was filthy - which was even more shocking seeing as we had to wait an hour for it to be "cleaned"!! It was so obvious that it hadnt been touched - floor was filthy with hairs all over it, hair in the fridge!!! In fairness to them as soon as we called reception and told them the housekeeping supervisor came in and she was raging at the state of the room and got us moved to another room. She was lovely and kept apologising and saying it wasnt good enough. None of our other guests had the same problem - seeing as we were the bride & groom you would imagine they would have made sure the room was clean, we felt we didnt get any extra special treatment - we were promised there would be chamagne & chocolates on arrival for us which there wasnt (bit much to expect I suppose when they couldnt even have a clean room for us!) We said it to the housekeeper though and she said she would arrange it and a few hours later someone came with just the champagne!

Also please be aware that they advertise that they have "Queen" size beds in all the rooms - they ARE NOT QUEEN SIZE!!! They are Irish & Uk double size!!! Was really disappointed about that as we have a Queen bed at home and are so used to it plus my husband is over 6ft tall!! Mattresses were really uncomfortable also.

There was a huge selection of food for breakfast - one would almost need a map to get around it all!! But as a vegetarian I found the choice was very limited.

Laneway leading down to the hotel is very dark at night. And there is no real bar area either.

Definatly NOT a 4 star hotel - such a shame as the location is stunning - they really should invest a bit in their rooms and get proper beds and update the decor and they would make a killing!

“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Excellent hotel. The staff couldnt be friendlier or more helpful. Only problem is lack of car parking - there is no garage, however if you double park and give the keys to reception they will move the car around for you. Breakfast was amazing, we never had lunch or dinner there as we were visiting family. Room was really big and comfortable, it was a bit too warm in the room but that might be a personal thing. Shower could be improved but not something that bothered us at all. Great location - in summer its perfect for swimming in the sea. I ll definitely go there again!!

Room Tip: sea view - as high up as possible
