My boyfriend and i arrived at the hotel (June 2011) in the morning and there were around 10 members of reception staff behind the desk. Don't think i seen anybody smile or look friendly, a bit intimidating as there were 10 of them standing not doing anything. We handed over our accommodation voucher and we could tell right away that there was something wrong. I previously read all these reviews and i had a feeling that we would be told they were over booked. Right enough, they looked confused and told us to take a seat as our room wasn't ready yet and wouldn't be until 3pm. We sat near the reception desk and a male manager approched us and appoligised that the hotel was over booked and that they would be sending us to Intercontinental Hotel, a five star, which is an upgrade. As i knew in my gut that this was going to happen i actually wasn't too bothered because i previously looked up the Interconintental and thought it looked fantastic. The manager couldn't have been more helpful and brought us refeshments whilst we waited on a taxi to take us to the Intercontinental. He said he would take care of the taxi, pay for it and also contacted our transfer and rearranged it for us. The whole situation lasted under one hour and didn't need to wait long on the taxi. Although the situation is appauling what happened as we did not book this hotel, they couldn't have helped us more.
I'm giving the hotel a rating of 3 because we didn't stay there. The hotel reception was spotless and airy with comfy seating and free wifi, which was good so i could look at the hotel we were going to. We stepped outside onto the balcony which faced the sea which was lovely, just ashame we weren't going to use it.
If you were going to book this hotel, i would call the hotel direct to ask them if they have your booking confirmed. I would even call a couple of times on the run up to your holiday as you won't want to be dissapointed.
