“what a nightmare”

we went to malta for a weeks holiday booked the baystreet hotel because it had a roof top pool & it was recommended for families & business people. What a joke. The pool was closed from september & it was more suited to teenagers & hen & stag parties there was a party all night next door we complained but were not moved til the following day. The staff were so unfriendly. The rooms were dirty two small single beds pushed together & one of the beds had a wooden board under it. We ended up paying a extra €250 to move to another hotel. You had to pay a deposit for the iron & tv & had to pay each day to watch the tv not that you even wanted to stay in the hotel. I dont understand how places like this still operate. Needless to say we would never go back. We moved to the Corintain Hotel it was beactiful & staff couldnt do enough for you i would recommend staying there & avoid the Baystreet like a bad flu.

Room Tip: just dont book this hotel

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. I wish I had checked this website before booking my holiday to malta, and hope this review saves someone else the unpleasant experience of a stay there. The hotel is not four stars, I have travelled extensively and wouldnt even rate it a 1 star. That would not really have bothered me if the rooms were clean, the furniture in a reasonable state. However the place was badly run down, damp, mildew in bathroom, smell of urine in corridors, bedspreads that hadnt been changed in quite a while, sheets were clean but did not fit properly. Architives around doors coming off, floors dirty even though they were supposedly serviced every day, bathroom not clean. Only one small hotel soap and one toilet roll in room on arrival then it a case of replace your own. The staff were unfriendly, unhelpful and rude. They made you feel you were imposing on them from the moment of check-in and made it abundantly clear, that they really didnt want to be bothered, well with anything. The hotel is split into two towers, above a shopping complex,so finding the restaurant(as we were booked in half-board)was not easy, so we asked. Well we should have known better but we were still hopeful, first night of holiday and all that. The response was delivered very harshly, of course being the idiots that we are, we then asked what time breakfast and dinner was, I know (who do we think we are, did we think we had booked into a 4 star hotel or something) we were treated to an eyeroll, all this before we even got up to the lovely rooms. Dont bother to find restaurant, not nice. We attempted to eat our dinner there on first night and did not return, not only was food sub-standard, but from talking to the other guests the same dinner and I was lead to believe it was indeed the same food, was served four nights in a row. I hope I have covered everything here, but would like to point out that malta was lovely the buildings scenery beautiful, eating out lovely and reasonable priced, bus service reliable and cheap, would I return yes, but will certainly choose another hotel. Hope this helps someone.

Room Tip: dont book one

“Basic Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Good location for restaurants, bars and entertainment. Room adequate, but mattresses are not the best quality, bathtub was leaking. But good value for money for one night!

Room Tip: As location is very central it could be noisy, so ask for a quite room.

“Cheap hotel in the heart of Paceville”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

Good value for money if only basing this on price - 21euros for twin room & included full breakfast ! Room adequate but basic & the bedding very thin with one synthetic pillow
How this gets a 4 star rating is amazing
It is in the heart of Paceville the bar & clubbing area of Malta so great if this is your scene. Also has a roof top pool ( not used ) but would be good in Summer.Downside is that the double glazed windows did not keep the noise out & as the hotel is surrounded by shops cafes bars & restaurants the noise levels were high. Our friends had a room at the back of the hotel where it was quiet so would advise requesting that side if you want a good nights sleep

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back of the hotel as it is quieter
