Firstly, tried to book direct but then got it at half of the price on a website. The only positive reviews here must be friends of the owner as this place is dreadful, it is dirty, the food is the cheapest rubbish available, the cornflakes taste like cardboard, the sliced ham (at least that is what I think it was supposed to be) is like reconstituted, mechanically recovered meat, there is a jug of cheap dilute cordial in the dining room instead of juice and I think it stays there for days without changing as nobody drinks it and a bowl of shrivelled up fruit, there are fridges left in hallways to trip over in the event of a fire, if you are a non smoker you will find that it normally smells of smoke as the staff seem to puff away at every spare moment but do it in the tv lounge, dining room etc, also students use their laptops in the porch and leave a pile of dogends there. In our room the tv did not work but that seems to be common in most rooms, the "air conditioning" turned out to be a very dirty centre fan on the ceiling, there was a bed made from chipboard and 4x2 in our room which was a surprise as we asked for a twin room and not 3 beds jammed in a twin room, I could carry on about the bad things all day like the threadbare towels etc but I think very tired and needing a total refurb should give you the idea. The ONLY good things are, the view from the roof is incredible and St Julian is a very busy, vibrant area.

The Management of the Hotel Rafael Spinola is happy to report that the prestigious ‘Pendergardens’ Apartment development which has been under construction directly opposite the hotel for the last 36 months is finally nearing completion. The journey has not been an easy one either for ourselves and nor for some of the many residents that stayed in the hotel but we are pleased that all of this is now over.
Without the dust, noise, and heavy plant in the vicinity the hotel will be a pleasanter hotel to stay in. However begrudgingly, we must admit that this new stylish structure has given the locality a huge lift and the hotel must be the biggest commercial beneficiary. Without doubt, completion of the project means a new start for us which is why we are taking the opportunity to undertake an upgrade program of our public areas and a revamp of our entire operation.
St. Julian’s must be the prettiest location on the Island and the most popular area to visit. Being situated within the area we are fortunate enough to be in a quiet tranquil part, far away enough from the hustle and bustle of Paceville, but near enough to enjoy the amenities of the entire location which are within easy walking distance.
We are sure that should you decide to return to us, you will enjoy your stay.
