“Don't miss out on the top Spa facilities!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed at the Corinthia for a long weekend in a standard double room - highly recommended! Staff answered all our queries promptly and in a friendly personable manner and while we didn't dine here, the range of treats for breakfast was impressive, staving off hunger pangs for quite some time!

We had booked the hotel on the basis of a indoor pool being available and we were not disappointed. The Apollo Day Spa sparkled with cleanliness and we enjoyed some relaxing swims, as well as a fabulous upper body massage from one of the in-house therapists, on the penultimate day of our trip.

Thanks again for making our stay in Malta the relaxing experience we were both looking forward to!

“Enjoyed our stay at the Corinthia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We visited in October with our 20 year old daughter for one week. We were booked in to a suite and our daughter a standard double room. With the suite came the executive club membership which meant we took breakfast here, and there were snacks such as cheeses, cold meats, fresh fruit, cake, tea, coffee, beer and soft drinks available throughout the day to help yourself to. Early evening, two choices of hot buffet style food were available along with the other foods and wine was also available at this time to help yourself. There was an attentive member of staff available in the club room at all times and they were not intrusive as at times it was very quiet here. There were two balconies off the club room which overlooked the pools and out to sea which was lovely. We did not check in at the main reception this was done by a very helpful receptionist on the floor where the the club and suits were.

Our daughter was on a different floor and her standard double room was very nice and with a sea view to the side of the hotel not overlooking the pools. She too had a balcony with table and chairs. With this room breakfast was taken in the main restaurant or outside on the terrace. We all did this the first morning. It was very nice, clean but busy. The food selection was excellent. We sat on the terrace with our breakfast but the service was a bit hit and miss for coffee/tea etc. as it was so busy. After this we paid for our daughter to have executive club membership and she was able to join us throughout the day. We all took breakfast here for the rest of the holiday.

The outside pool areas were immaculate and cleaned every day and very well organised. Access to the lido was fine and was a nice alternative to the hotel pools. The main pool side bar was very expensive but the bar near the pool for the public and hotel guests was much better value.

The hotel rooms were extremely comfortable but the bathroom in our suite compared to the one in the standard double needed updating. The air conditioning in the suite did break during the night, was repaired with many apologies but did break again the following day. This happened during a storm and also happened in the club room, we were told this was a problem during atmospheric changes.

Our balcony looked out to sea and over the tower which was lovely. A wedding reception took place outside in this area but did not cause us any problems and it was lovely to see them enjoying themselves.

The hotel is well placed for restaurants and bars. We ate in Vinotheque twice which was excellent and in Da Marina twice which was also good and on the second time we reserved a lovely table on the terrace overlooking the sea and casino. We went to Henry J Beans but were not impressed with the service and on one occasion left before ordering it took so long. It is only a short walk down hill to the beach. This was very busy every day with young people we think from hotels in the town (Paceville) and local families. There are plenty of restaurants available within a 20 minute walk (St. Julian's). For those wanting clubbing there is plenty in Paceville (we didn't but our daughter was glad to see some).

Room Tip: Suites are worth the money and far superior to the standard rooms. Although the standard room was m...

Many thanks for your detailed positive feedback regarding your recent stay at the Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay.

I am very happy to hear that you had a lovely stay with us and that you enjoyed your suite and the Executive Club facilities that came with it.

I am also glad that you made use of our outdoor recreational facilities and found them to be nice and clean. I have asked our Food and Beverage Manager to look into the prices of the Pool Bar.

I apologise about the slow service in Henry J Bean’s, this is not our usual standard. I have discussed this matter with the Restaurant Manager and the Food and Beverage Manager for them to take the necessary action to avoid such incidents in the future. Henry J Bean’s is very popular and always very busy. We have just recently introduced a traditional British dish of Fish and Chips with mushy peas and this is selling like hot cakes. It is a pity that you did not enjoy the delicious food we provide here.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Malta and to our Hotel in the future.

Best regards
Stuart Chappell

“Didn't blow my socks off”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed for three nights mid January and I have to say was quite underwhelmed, I was on business so I wasnt to bothered but if I had booked for a holiday I would not have been to happy.

First off there is building work going on outside the hotel, where they seem to be digging the biggest hole in the world, this starts at 6:30 thats in the morning, now I know this is outwith the hotels control but surley they would move guests to the opposite side of the hotel to minimise the noise, the hotel was not busy.

The hotel I imagine would be excellent in the summer as everything is based on outdooors pools area which do look amazing, but not in January. There is very little to do unless you use the indoor pool or you could go to the gym. Another problem is the dining options at night where you have to leave the main hotel and walk down towards the beach through security gates to get to the eating options. (There is a buffet option in the main hotel which I didn't use mainly because it was empty) again in the summer this would likely not be a problem, but on a dark cold January definetly. Breakfast was in the main hotel and was excellent, buffet style.

The room was fine with no problems, apart from the last day when someone chapped my door and asked if i had used the mini bar so they could total my bill, everything fine there, until they returned and thrust a can of beer in my hand, I take it from this I was to refill the mini bar myself! Also a beer in the hotel foyer was 6.50 euro. which is way excessive. The beer and food in the sports bar was actually very good and a lot cheaper, which is strange as it is the same hotel.

The staff were lovely and would I imagine do anything for you, and mayby if this review was written in July it would be more positive but you can only be honest with what you find.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback regarding your recent stay at the Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay.

Regarding the construction work in the area below the Hotel, this is a Malta Tourism Project called “Pembroke Gardens” and once it is ready, it is going to be beautiful. Unfortunately we have no control on the schedule of the workers, however, this project should be finished soon, so it is a temporary setback. I apologise that your room was allocated in this area.

I am sorry that you were disturbed by Room Service and I have spoken to the Food and Beverage Manager in order to ensure this does not happen again in the future.

On a positive note, I am very glad to hear that you found our employees to be lovely and that you enjoyed our lavish breakfast buffet.

I can assure you that in summer our outdoor recreational facilities are wonderful and everywhere is bustling with activity.

I hope that you will return to Malta and to our Hotel some time in summer.

Best regards

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I stayed for 3 days in January 2012 with my partner at Corinthia Hotel St. Georges Bay. It was a wonderful experience with exceptionally friendly staff always ready to assist in any of the requests we had. Special thanks go to the Front Office Manager who assisted us personally very efficiently on our last-minute requests. The executive suite was very clean, comfortable, spacious and equipped with all amenities. The Executive Lounge was also an asset. The facilities of the hotel (especially restaurants and spa) are second to none. We highly recommend this Hotel especially business persons seeking a Hotel both for business or for pleasure in a central area (but also on the sea shore) with value for money.

Room Tip: Most rooms enjoy spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea.
