Me and a couple of friends decided to spend one of my friends' birthday at the La Vallette hotel since it was cheap and it is located right next to the night-life village of Paceville, however we could never imagine what ugly surprises we would get.
First of all for a room costing 45 euros per night we had to pay 60 euros per person as a further deposit, supposedly in order to cover for any damage done to the room. However this was used by the management in order to leverage any request we could have made and that if we did not comply, they would take away our deposit.
Although the hotel was empty except for a couple of other guests, for no apparent reason we were given the most remotely located room on the 5th and topmost floor in a block were the lift did not work for half of our weekend stay, which is already enough to reconsider you booking and this is only the start.
As I believe is quite normal, before we went out to Paceville we invited a couple of guests to our room for a drink. After a while the security came by and asked us to lower down the volume in our room and as any decent group would do, we lowered our voices and went out to Paceville. So far nothing out of the ordinary. We eventually returned to our room at about 5a.m and slept at about 6 in the morning.
Since we had our guests over before we went out, the security reported that more than the paid amount of guests were staying in the room............so what was their solution to this.
At 6.30 in the morning, the Site Manager used his master key to open our room and came in WITHOUT even knocking on the door shouting and waking us up, completely ignoring and depraving our privacy, even because more than one of us simply wore a boxer shorts. This simply because they thought that more than the paid amount of guests were sleeping in the room.
After this scandalizing charade, which left our group dazed after just 30 minutes of sleep and simply appalled by this kind of drastic and unprecedented action, we simply went back to sleep.
In the morning we demanded compensation, but our words simply fell on deaf ears with the manager simply dismissing any action as required.
Furthermore for the next night we wanted to book another room for four more guests of ours, not because of the great service, but because the next night was non refundable, and some friends wanted to sleep over. So we went to the reception (it is important to go before noon, as after noon the price of the room is increased, as if the room gets any more beautiful than it is...which is totally sarcastic btw.), in order to book the next room. Although we were willing to pay the 45euros cost of the room we did not have another 240euros cash on us for another deposit, so as a courtesy to what they did to us on the previous night, we asked for another room and to kindly consider the deposit we had already payed for the other room.
As by now you can imagine the answer was a blatant no, so for a weekend costing us 90euros, the management of this hotel wanted us to pay 480euros as a deposit. Since we are but mere students, we not kindly, rejected this offer and left.
I agree with all the bad reviews here...this hotel is disastrous and its management is an ugly joke!
