“Stay only if you get a real bargain price!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Just arrived back after spending 9 nights at the Vivaldi.
The reception area is very pleasant, spacious and clean. We made our way to our superior room (which cost us extra),and this is where the disappointment began.
The bedding was full of holes, the bath was mouldy, the strange balcony door did not close (balcony being an unusual word for a tiny ledge!).
I complained immediately to reception, who after a short while told me that we could move to an 'upgraded' room. The only actual upgrade was a tiny balcony. The bath area was still mouldy, dirty black marks over one of the bedroom walls, ripped and stained bedding,no room safe and dirty carpets. As this was the only other room available,we had to accept it.
One positive point was the sea view, which,if you ignored the large sunken car park opposite the room, was actually quite nice.
Breakfast was okay, the large restaurant having plenty of seating. The quality of the breakfast was okay too, although avoid the fruit juices...they were awful!
Also, if you hire a car, don't use the hotel car park at EUR8-10 per day,use the sunken car park opposite,it's EUR2.50 per day and secure too.
The hotel is on the edge of Paceville, ideal for lots of noisy nightlife and bars, not good if you're after a quiet holiday.
Overall, I wouldn't stay there again unless I found a real bargain price. The place just needs updating and cleaning, the poorly lit landings hide lots of filth!

“a fine hotel”

we stayed at the hotel for 4 days. It was a nice experience. i think it was good value for our money but there was nothing exceptional about it. the room we got was pretty big (it was a superior) with two double beds (we were two people) no balcony and we had a nice view and even caught a glimpse of the sea. Mind u if u want a room with a sea view it is 20 euros extra per night which i think is outrageous. The receptionists were fine and helpful but could smile a bit more! breakfast was very good with a wide selection of food including various eggs, bacon, sausages, breads, yogurts etc. The hotel also has a nice rooftop pool to catch some sun and a heated pool and jacuzzi which was not hot when we went there. we had a room on the second floor and even with the wondows open at night i cant say it was too noisy even with all the people on the street, complete silence can be achieved by closing the windows.
the bus station is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and there is also a big supermarket even nearer. good restaurants can be found around the hotel as well. One annoying thing is that i think a 4 star hotel should offer free WIFI and not charge for it and also a safe in the room would have been nice! All in all it was a pleasant stay. i didnt feel like it was a wonderful hotel but it suited our expectations more or less. we got a good deal on it so the expectations more or less matched the price. i definitely know there are better four star hotels around but they would also be more expensive mind u. so if youre not looking for anything too fancy, comfortable and not too expensive this hotel is just for that

Room Tip: rooms in the corner of the hotel have a nice view. seems superior rooms are bigger but i havent seen...

“Reasonable but dated hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

Just returned from a week in Malta. We stayed at Vivaldi Hotel with our group of 18 people. Some rooms had balconies, mine didn't unfortunately. No shutters for the windows either, just curtains, which did not keep out the heat and forced us to use the air conditioning a lot. The room was large enough, with nice beds and a tv, but the bathroom was quite old and the shower/bath had a lot of dark (moldy?) spots in it. No proper ventilation system in the bathroom. The hotel works with a card system to access the rooms, but mine had to be reactivated 3 times in one week, because it no longer worked. On the last morning, while we were still sleeping, another guest was suddenly in our room by mistake, he was given our room apparently...... Breakfast was good, with lots to choose from, and so was dinner (buffet-style), especially the desserts, which were fantastic. Also loved the pool on the rooftop. If this hotel would renovate its rooms, it could be great, but right now it is not very special, but okay to stay at if you are in St. Julians.

“A fantastic experience- everything was top notch.”

Can not complain- staff were helpful, brought us free hot water for our baby whenever we asked for it. Food was always above expectation. Fresh breakfast every day all you can eat- inclu English and Continental. Seaview room had the most amazing sunrise (8 month baby ensured I saw this most mornings) the room spacious and clean. The pool was just the right size and quiet. Well done a superb hotel. And cheaper than the Tower Palace in Silema.

“Wonderful Trip”

I would recommend this hotel for couples and families. A lovely spot overlooking the bay. Rooms were very comfortable, food excellant and the swimming pools and gym were great. The area has many places to visit and would recommend asking at the reception for details of the "Hop On and Hop Off Buses" which stop right outside the hotel.
My sister and I travelled with the Riviera Travel company and felt that it was an excellant trip organised by them. We stayed there for a week at the beginning of September 2011.
