“Excellent in everything.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Well it is not cheap at all but worth it. Be on the lookout for special offers. The food is amazing. The rooms are amazing. Also not to forget is the free carpark for residents. Well probably the best hotel on the island but at a price. Disciplined and friendly staff.

“Superb Hotel for Location, Rooms and Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Visited Feb 12 when the weather was cold and damp (for Malta) so arriving at the Hilton was a real pleasure. The inviting lobby area and immaculate decor immediately impressed. Check-in was swift and we were upgraded to an executive room. The first room we thought was perfect but upon further inspection let down by a less than clean bathroom with dusty shelves and dirty floor and hairs. The mattress on the bed had seen better days and sloped towards the edge so in the night I felt like I was sleeping on a hill! We moved rooms the next day and although the mattress was only a little better everything else was perfect including the fantastic sea view.

The breakfast buffet is the largest variety I have ever experienced and the quality was good. The outdoor pool areas look fantastic and I'm sure in nice weather this hotel would be a real treat.

The spa was supposed to be the biggest in Malta but we didn't think it was that special and the sauna was just too hot to sit in for more than a few minutes.

We went to the Westin to look at the rooms there for a comparison and were kept waiting at the reception desk by the lone girl on duty while she seemingly gassed to a friend on the phone. When she eventually got someone to show us a room we were totally underwhelmed compared to the Hilton and the Westin was about £20 more expensive per night! So all in all the Hilton is probably the best you'll find and very close to all the nightlife in Paceville plus on the route of the open top bus tour (which we didn't think was worth it, would rather hire a car as it took about 3.5 hrs to trundle around half the island which would take about an hour in a car!)

By the way restaurants were all excellent, especially Parappet in St Julians and La Mere in Valetta. Portions are huge though so be mindful when ordering a starter as well as a main.

Room Tip: Executive Rooms worth the extra, much more modern looking

“Fabulous hotel, fabulous staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Have just returned after spending a week at this hotel. We stayed on a half board basis in an Executive room, which gives access to the Executive lounge.

We have stayed in a lot of Hiltons, mainly in the UK, and this hotel certainly features as one of the best so far.

The room was large, modern, well equipped and very comfortable. The bathroom was exceptional and even the make-up/shaving mirror was usable! The shower unit was huge with a choice of two different showers. The bath was large and there was two hand basins.

Flat screen TV which receives both BBC World and Sky news. Sports channels were also available.

We had a very good view from the balcony which we couldn't make full use of owing to the poor weather.

The staff were amongst the best we have ever encountered. Special mentions must go to Andrea (restaurant) Fabio and John the exceptional hosts in the Executive lounge. The room maid whose name we didn't find out was also exceptionally good.

We did find that most things were very expensive in Malta with the exception of bus travel which was plentiful, easy to use and cheap. We don't usually go on organised excursions but made an exception this year and went on the day trip to Gozo. We paid 55 Euros each which included everything from the travel to a film show and lunch. We would recommend this trip if you are not hiring a car.

We had good flights with Air Malta and would recommend the upgrade to business class.

All in all, despite the poor weather we had an excellent stay at this exceptional hotel.

“Immaculate hotel in central location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I recently stayed at the Hilton for 4 nights b&b. We got a bus (X2) from right outside arrivals at the airport which cost 2.60 euro (which could be used for the whole day). The journey took about an hour due to frequent stops (and spine-crushing pot holes!) The bus stop we got off at was only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel door.

Check-in was very fast and we were given a room just off the reception lobby – unfortunately we had to ask to be moved from this room the next evening due to being directly above the squash courts which were in constant use from 6.30am – 10pm and very noisy.

We were moved to room 730 which was exactly the same in comfort but a lot quieter. The rooms are very spacious (we had a twin deluxe plus with seaview) with plenty of storage (double wardrobe, chest of drawers and 2 bedside cabinets), a flatscreen tv, work desk and small table with 2 chairs. The bathroom was lovely – full bath with overhead shower. Plenty of Evelyn & Crabtree toiletries so no need to bring shampoo/conditioner, shower gel or body lotion. The huge balcony looked out over the pool and sea – I think it was east facing so in summer may only get the morning sun. The rooms on the opposite side of the corridor overlooked the marina which was a lovely view too.

Breakfast was vast! You were taken to a table in the Oceana restaurant overlooking the pool and poured coffee/tea/juice and then you were free to attack the food! There were food stations containing fruit, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, cooked breakfasts, a lady cooking omelettes to order, toast machines, cheeses and meats. There really was something for everyone. We asked if we could take away pastries/fruit so we could have them as snacks and the staff were fine with that.

We also used the swimming pool several times (despite being given a hand out at arrival stating the pool was closed due to refurbishment). At the health clubs reception on the 4th floor you hand over your room keys and they give you a towel to use and locker key if needed. The pool was lovely and a good size if you are into swimming lengths. There was also a freezing plunge pool, steam and sauna rooms and poolside beds to lounge on. We used the pool after 8pm (children are allowed until 6pm)and it was very quiet. There were also exercise classes advertised – Zumba, yoga etc.. these were free for guests.

We don’t normally stay in 5* hotels but we managed to get a very good deal and enjoyed our stay although it was a little formal for us. We would certainly stay there again though for a short break.

Room Tip: request rooms on floors above the reception for better views and quieter location
