I recently stayed at the Hilton for 4 nights b&b. We got a bus (X2) from right outside arrivals at the airport which cost 2.60 euro (which could be used for the whole day). The journey took about an hour due to frequent stops (and spine-crushing pot holes!) The bus stop we got off at was only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel door.
Check-in was very fast and we were given a room just off the reception lobby – unfortunately we had to ask to be moved from this room the next evening due to being directly above the squash courts which were in constant use from 6.30am – 10pm and very noisy.
We were moved to room 730 which was exactly the same in comfort but a lot quieter. The rooms are very spacious (we had a twin deluxe plus with seaview) with plenty of storage (double wardrobe, chest of drawers and 2 bedside cabinets), a flatscreen tv, work desk and small table with 2 chairs. The bathroom was lovely – full bath with overhead shower. Plenty of Evelyn & Crabtree toiletries so no need to bring shampoo/conditioner, shower gel or body lotion. The huge balcony looked out over the pool and sea – I think it was east facing so in summer may only get the morning sun. The rooms on the opposite side of the corridor overlooked the marina which was a lovely view too.
Breakfast was vast! You were taken to a table in the Oceana restaurant overlooking the pool and poured coffee/tea/juice and then you were free to attack the food! There were food stations containing fruit, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, cooked breakfasts, a lady cooking omelettes to order, toast machines, cheeses and meats. There really was something for everyone. We asked if we could take away pastries/fruit so we could have them as snacks and the staff were fine with that.
We also used the swimming pool several times (despite being given a hand out at arrival stating the pool was closed due to refurbishment). At the health clubs reception on the 4th floor you hand over your room keys and they give you a towel to use and locker key if needed. The pool was lovely and a good size if you are into swimming lengths. There was also a freezing plunge pool, steam and sauna rooms and poolside beds to lounge on. We used the pool after 8pm (children are allowed until 6pm)and it was very quiet. There were also exercise classes advertised – Zumba, yoga etc.. these were free for guests.
We don’t normally stay in 5* hotels but we managed to get a very good deal and enjoyed our stay although it was a little formal for us. We would certainly stay there again though for a short break.
Room Tip: request rooms on floors above the reception for better views and quieter location
