I booked through Easyjet and thought the would ensure that hotels are up to a certain standard. This "hotel" was very, very disappointing as we had already paid and couldnt move. In the first room, the phone didnt work and after various problems we were moved. The second room didnt have a safe - the freestanding safe later arrived - ready to be carried away! The room was dark and dingy, the bathroom was a joke - couldnt bend down in the shower as it was too small, the hairdryer had no adaptor, the tv didnt work and couldnt be fixed. It was winter and no blankets, the breakfast in the awful restaurant was diabolical - the bread was stale and the "top guy" thought he was something and had lots to say if you complained. If you arrived at 9 am there was just about nothing left. It was horrible and I would certainly not recommend anybody goes there - cheap or not. The passages were dirty and the carpets stained. The staff initially were very aggro but seemed to calm down later. We were stuck there for a week. Malta Tourist Authority should take a look at this and close it down as it certainly does nothing for the country.

We went to this hotel in Dec 2011. First room they alloted to us has leaking bathroom. We complained this to reception, they were kind enough to give another few room option. We ended up taking a room which was overlooking the beautiful bay.

Sink water tap has always cold water while shower does have it. But one has to waste too much of water to hot water. Staff are friendly. Lift/Elevator is an antique piece, works but irritates a lot. Dont have high expectation, it will be disappointing. It just caters for basic need for a night to stay.

IIt has very good connectivity to both city valetta and Airport. For airport bus no X2 is direct and around 60-80 min drive. It has a souvenir shop inside. Visitors can buy travel adaptors also.

Great destination, but would struggle to get 3 starts in the UK, but hey, it was only 19 euros a night for a double room! we only stayed the one night, so it was ok, but I wouldnt stay there any longer.

We hosted a group of participants for an international conference and booked hotel rooms at The Carlton Hotel. The operator of this hotel is also operator of Saint Julian's Bay hotel and last minute informed us to move guests to this horrible place against our wishes.

Our guests were shocked at the state of the rooms and we had to find rooms for them in other hotels in the middle of the night...nice welcome to Malta.

The cherry on the cake was that Sera the hotel sales manager even debited the cards of the guests as if they were no shows or last minute cancellations !!!

Shame on Malta Tourism Authority to let this hotel operate with a licence.
