Stayed 1 night on 3rd floor. Upon checking out our room we noticed 2 burn marks(holes) on the bed cover and filty stained curtains. Even in the bathroom we found cigarette burn marks arround the sink. Breakfast was dissapointing. Most of the bread seemed to be reheated from the left overs of the evening before. Was shocked to notice that the bread (and eggs) were wrapped arround old bathroom towels. How hygenic is that? We just couldn't believe what we saw! On various occassions we observed the receptionist was very active surfing the internet. She didnt even bother to turn her head and say good morning. Maybe the pc screen should be moved to the other side of the desk? We payed in advance and upon checking out we delivered the keys back and left without a thankyou or welcome back from the receptionist.

stayed for 1 night we had been staying with our friends relations but needed a room for our last night there the hotel is fantastic with free waffels tea coffee fruit then followed a light supper food was excellent as much as you wanted we all met up later and had drinks in the hotel bar i was amazed how cheap it was for drinks in there going on norway prices our room was comfortable and very warm also heated floor in bathroom and very clean the staff in hotel were very helpfull and spoke good english we were amazed how cheap it was for a room 888 krones with everything included we will certainly book this hotel again if needed

We have booked in advance by internet for a double plus an extra bed (payed more than 200 NOK). Once we were arrived we have found the extra bed closed vertical, and no space in the room to lay it. We had to arrange the room by ourselves, without any help.
The evening buffet included is a plus, but the price of a single beer (120 Nok) is almost the double than in any other restaurant.

We spent two nights in this hotel during a very short trip to Norway.

Hotel was a five minute walk from the train station, in the centre of Sandefjord, with bus station only two minutes walk away.
Rooms were clean and comfortable, en-suite bathroom with shower and hairdryer and as an extra treat there was underfloor heating so no getting up in the middle of the night and getting cold!!!!!!

Hotel does have a whaling theme but not as 'gruesome' as I expected from other reviews. The breakfast room is separated into smaller sections like rooms on a ship ie pantry, linen room, rigging room, radio room etc all with authentic artefacts - so great conversation piece for folk who are interested in this type of stuff. Buffet was laid out on a replica boat down the centre gangway.
Included in the price of the stay were buffet breakfast, buffet dinner and free tea/coffee/fruit throughout the day with 'make your own waffles' in the afternoon. Strangely, very few people seemed to take advantage of the buffets while we were there but the food was fresh and plenty of it - so no complaints from this camp!!

We decided to take advantage of the gym and sauna during our stay, which was also free of charge. Great for relaxation as we were the only guests using it at the time.

As for the town itself, plenty shops to look in but a little bleak for me as it was really too cold to stay outdoors for long, would love to go back spring/summer for a good look about as there appear to be a few parks/walks to enjoy.

Tip for those people using the local public transport to/from the airport.
There is a bus shuttle service from the airport to the train, price of this is included in the train fare - approx. 36 NOK one way and ticket bought on the train. 4 mins on the bus and 4 mins on the train to Sandefjord. Returning you need to buy your ticket from the machine in the station before you get on the train - credit card or NOK coins only - otherwise you are charged an extra 20 NOK per passenger to buy from the conductor.
Would we go again? To this hotel - definitely, to Sandefjord - when its warmer!!!
