“Nice hotel and well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I've stayed at this hotel regularly over the past 12 months on business trips.

The hotel is located just off the centre of the lovely small town of Sandefjord and is just a short walk from anywhere in town and 20 mins by taxi from Torp airport.

The hotel is warm and quite homely. It is decorated with a vast array of whaling artefacts which celebrate the towns history. Probably best avoided if you have an issue with this. The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful. However the rooms are slightly tired and in need of new decore. The beds are also not the most comfortable for a hotel of this standard. Wi-fi is free throughout the hotel. Coffee and waffles are free in the reception/bar area during the afternoon.

The hotel offers a free, limited option, evening meal in the quirky restaurant area which is also decorated with whaling artefacts. Handy given the cost of food and drink in Norway. However, there are plenty of excellent restaurants in town only a short walk away, especially by the marina. There is an excellent bar attached to the hotel which is also open to the public.

“Clarion in my Heart!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I love Sandefjord, I love this Hotel! I Stayed at Clarion for just 2 nights. coming from Oslo I was looking for an hotel near the airport, easy for departure. too good for only 2 nights: this is the true Norway! would be better to spend all my holiday here. Sandefjord is a small city, a beautiful harbor, typical streets of Norway, nice promenade, the hotel is close to the city centre and to the railway station. Rooms were beautyful and very clean, the staff is young, kind, professional and smiling, specially the receptionists! in the evening for all guests there is a free buffet in the breakfast room: perfect substitute for dinner! I will come back in this Hotel!

“Nice friendly hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

The hotel is located in the centre of Sandefjord within easy walking distance to most city centre shops and attractions.

I stayed in room 251 which I was told was a deluxe room. It was a fairly large room with a large double bed, a seating area with two easy chairs and a coffee table, a TV and an office desk with a music centre where you can connect your MP3 player.

The bathroom is also quite large and had a shower cubicle, a toilet, a sink and a large mirror. There is no bathtub.

To get power to the wall sockets and thigns like that you need to insert your plastic card key into a holder. I guess this is not so unusual, but a little bit of an inconvenience if you are plannning to leave the room for a few minutes and want to leave your phone or laptop on charge.

The bed was comfortable and the room and the bathroom was in good repair and clean. The only negative was that there was a large fold-away bed stashed in a corner near the entrance to the room. It would have been much better if this had been stored somewhere else and just made available if requested.

The hotel has free Wi-Fi which I found to work quite well. Simply ask for the access code at the front desk, power up your laptop, connect to the Telenor network, select "Conference" and then enter the code. Easy enough once you know what you are looking for but when I tried to connect I found there were several networks in range and the sheet I had been given gave no details of which network you had to connect to, Once connected you have to complete the log on by starting your browser. This will bring up the Telenor log on page, At first you get the impression that you have come to the wrong place as it asks for not just an access code but also a user name, but once you locate the correct menu option in the selection box (Conference) it comes up with another page where it simply asks for the access code.

Another good thing about this hotel was that they not only include breakfast in their rate, but also some snacks during the day and a light evening meal. The evening meal is not a full blown dinner but more than adequate if you just want a light meal.

There is a bar in the basement of the hotel. The bar is divided between a hotel and public part. The hotel part was dead, while the public part was quite lively.

All in all a very pleasant place to stay. The only thing dragging it down was a relatively high price, but this seems to have been caused by a combination of having to stay in a more expensive room and the fact that it was on a busy night anyway. The prices seem to vary quite a lot depending on how busy they are. I have booked a stay for another 11 nights in a few weeks time and the average price per night for that stay is about 35% lower than what I paid.

“Nice hotel with good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

Got to the hotel rather late in the evening. Checkin was fast and friendly.

Room was typical Norwegian in terms of size. Further interior was farly modern and in good condition. However, why hasn't the old TV set been replaced with a flat screen TV ????

WIFI was free being both fast and stable.

Interior of the hotel was both special and unique referring to the whale heritage of the city of Sandefjord.

Nice touch of the hotel to offer a free light evening meal.

Breakfast was standard Norwegian suiting my needs.

All in all a nice stay in a different hotel which I really enjoyed.

“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

The hotel is in a great location in the centre of Sandefjord and the staff are friendly. The price includes buffet breakfast and evening meal, as well as free tea and coffee
throughout the day and waffles in the afternoon. Though the breakfast and evening buffet are not the largest I have seen the quality of the food is good. We had booked a room for two people, but actually the room we got was like a small suite, with a large living room and a separate bedroom. Excellent value for money.
