Rica Hotel located in Gardermoen is small hotel about 3-4 km from international airport Oslo (OSL). From outside hotel looks like not so good almost as a barrack ! Rooms are small but clean, service are ok - people working there very friendship. As a plus I can write that it is 30 meter from McDonald's and gas station. For staing one night it can be.

From the outside, the hotel looks old and worn, and it's easy to tell that it was built on a budget. The rooms were quite average, both in size and comfort, but the lovely breakfast buffet was quite good. Just beware that that you won't find any luxury at this particular airport hotel.

On a side note, I took the shuttle bus from the airport terminal to the hotel. I was expecting a free service, but instead, I was charged NOK 60,- for the ten minute ride! One would think the hotels in the area would offer this as a free service...

I had spent three weeks travelling in Asia - so it may be unfair to rate this hotel by the side of what I experienced there....even though the Conrad Hilton in Bali cost under 50% and even the Hilton in Bangkok was 70% of the price. I spent one night here (very reluctantly) after having travelled 17 hours by plane.

The room was so small that there was hardly room for two suitcases. The bed was so soft that I woke with backache. The TV was smaller than in a budget "mom and pop" motel in the USA. The bathroom floor contained somebody elses "hair" (yes, the speech marks are intentional). There were red marks on the sheets which could have been blood that hadn't been properly washed away. There was a used towel (don't even ask how I know it was use....OK then, think "skid marks"......) hanging on a hook at the back of the door. On top of this, when I arrived at the hotel, I had to wait about two minutes before getting the receptionists attention.....she was deeply engrossed in a fax....not exactly customer service. This may have been bad timig, I may have been a bit tired (I have stayed in a lot of Rica hotels and am usually satisfied) - but for the price I paid, this was completely shocking. Staying on a bench at Oslo Airport would have been preferable, cheaper and more satisfying. It was not a good end to an otherwise fantastic holiday.

I found this hotel to be a nice surprise. I was here on a conference, and had a very nice time. They had complimentary apples at the reception, an icecream bar at the conference break room. The rooms were fine and clean with complimetary wireless. The food was good.

Also there is a shuttle back and forth to the airport, although not complimentary a lot cheaper than a taxi.
