Arrival: This was the third hotel we stayed at (for 1 night) as part of a 13 day “Highlights of Scandinavia” Trafalgar Cost Saver trip. As such we didn’t have to deal directly with the staff for check-in. The staff organised our room keys quite promptly and we were checked in within minutes.
Location: Being right in the centre of town, this hotel could only improve it’s location by having a decent view.
Accommodation: We were on the second floor overlooking Air-conditioning unit looking boxes (although the rooms did not receive the benefits) and car park, which sounds (literally) worse than it was. We didn’t hear any noise from either, although because of the C shape to the hotel, catching a breeze through an open window was impossible. The room is best described as “Cosy”, with minimal hanging space. The bed was very soft, ie not very much support at all. It was all clean though. The bathroom was quite large, with the shower having a curtain. The shower head produced a strange cone shaped water flow which was horrid, despite there being plenty of hot water with quite high pressure. Soap on tap. The toilet roll only had one wrap of paper around it and the tissue box only contained one tissue, plus we had to ask for a second hand and bath towel – must have been on rashens.
Food: Diner and breakfast were included as part of the tour. Both were ok, nothing I’d go out of my way for and had the diner not been included, there were plenty of other choices near by.
Service: Although we didn’t have any issues with noise, we did witness a couple of people on our tour complaining to staff the following morning about noise coming from the pub that shares a wall with the hotel (left hand side, until 4 am) and the reception staff just didn’t seem to care at all.
Overall: Good location but not somewhere I’d like to spend any more time in.
Tip: Stay away from the rooms on the left hand side of the hotel. If you’re considering doing this tour and want to see reviews of other hotels, the next hotel we stayed at was the Klingenberg Hotel , (of course by myself - GR8FUN).
