This was a very pleasant hotel to stay in. The dinner and breakfast buffets were very good. My room was clean and quiet and nicely designed. The close proximity to the lake and the island were very nice.

Have stayed at the hotel twice. Fagernes is a convenient place to stop on your way through the valley of Valdres on your way to Bergen.
The hotel has a great facade - especially when it is winter and the snow is making it cosy .
Public areas are nice with beautiful furniture and are very spacious including two bars and the restaurant.
The first time we got a room facing the main street, and it could be a bit noisy. This December we got a room facing the lake and the view was much better. The rooms are rather small, the beds could be better and both the room and the bathroom needed to be refurbished.
The breakfast - a buffet style - was very good and had very much to choose from even if the hotel had quite few guests this Monday morning , and included selfmade waffels with sour cream and strawberry jam.
The reseptionist was very helpful and got me a thick featherbed when I was asking for it.
Very good location.

Small rooms that are very warm (temperature outside was < 18 degrees centrigrade).
Town is noisy overnight with 'boy-racers' revving engines and drag-racing until about 3am.

The staff were surly, rude and unhelpful. The choice of food in the buffet dinner was the same both nights.

We will never return to Fagernes - 2 unpleasant nights in an otherwise excellent two weeks holiday to Norway.
