I made a reservation for June 4, 2011, at the Quality Hotel and Resort Fagernes, Norway. My son and his wife also had a reservation. After a full day of driving we arrived at 6:30 pm. We were told that the hotel had overbooked for the night and that they had no space. They advised that they had made provision for us at another hotel a few blocks away. When we went to the other hotel we found it to an older facility lacking in bathrooms, wireless internet, etc. and in no way comparable. While at the Quality Hotel it was apparent that a convention or conference was going on. The hotel obviously decided that this was more to their advantage than honoring a reservation made through the Nordic Choice Hotels. As a result we had to drive until 10:30 in the evening to get to Oslo as Fagernes is in a remote area.

This hotel is situated next to the lake and with a great panorama view over the mountains. It has a nice romantic garden with a walking bridge to a small island. The room was rather large and with a balcony. The restaurant served fresh local a la carte as well as a very nice buffet. First class. So was also the breakfast. Nice staff. Free parking.

I stayed at this hotel in July 2010 while on a tour. The hotel is VERY classy and food selection (buffet evening meal) was the best I have ever had. Rooms are renovated, modern and very clean. The hotel is alongside a lake, lovely for a late evening walk. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for two nights only and since we were here on business we did not have time to explore all the facilities.

The hotel is partly refurbished, giving it a little odd look at the moment with a mix of styles. I stayed in a refurbished room with a terrace and a view, and was very happy with everything in the room. Large and comfortable and nice design. I understand all the rooms were refurbished in 2008.

The service in general was great - staff was very helpful in providing us a meal even if we arrived after the restaurant had closed. Nice breakfast buffet and great dinner at the restaurant.

The lounge area was very large and nice and with different zones depending on your needs.
