“Great Spa - Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

My trip to this hotel was mostly for business, but some part of it was for pleasure too. Let me start with the cons:

- Service:
* Not very helpfull when asking for a spa-treatment. Just handed me a list and a read for yourself.
*When asking for wine in the bar, the waitress didn`t know anything about the wine I ordered, and came with a glass that was almost empty. My wallet was almost empty too after that : )
* I`m a piano-player man, and just before we should leave I played some tunes on the piano. The reseption-man came to me and ordered me to stop. There were guests in the dinner-room, and he thought they wanted peace and quiet.
- The dinner:
* The taste was quite OK, but there wasn`t much to choose from.

Pros:
- Nice location.
- Great SPA (not driven by the hotel, but it is a part of the hotel) Costs a little extra, but the massage was fantastic!
- Nice and clean rooms. Not very 2010, but I could relax and enjoy my stay when entering the room. Good beds.
- The dessert-table and breakfast-table: Although the dinner was so and so, the dessert-table and breakfast-table was great. So if you`re more of a dessert-guy then a dinner-guy you will appreciate the food : ) I did!
- Nice and clean meeting-rooms
- NIce and clean toilets.

Summary: Good hotel. Will not say I`m overwhelmed, but absolutely worth a stay. Other persons may not react as much as I did about the friendliness and service as I did, but I feel it`s important to be appreciated as a guest. Not awfull service, but not good either.

“A Pleasant surprise- good food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

Stayed for 1 night (as I guess most do, as a stopover). The hotel has been renovated well- rooms are fairly modern and fresh; artwork rather 'frisky'! pool nice but cold!
The hotel offered a buffet in the evening at a reasonable price-- we had our doubts as buffets can be dreadful, but this turned out to be excellent and freshly prepared. Likewise breakfast.

The only downside was coach parties- 3 swamped the place at breakfast- and they barely coped.

Forde is a crossroads town-- but we thought it actually quite pleasant.. and the sculpture work in the nearby park-- great fun!

“When in Forde - stay here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

First and last impression - this hotel takes service seriously, which is rare in Norway. The food is top notch. Thats all you need. The ordinary rooms could need a bit of a shining. The superior rooms have wall-to-wall carpets and a close to perfect bathroom. The small fact that the shower fills the whole floor with water is not my concern, but will soon be for the hotell. The hotell forgot to mention the small fact that they have a swinning pool and gym (!) wich could be selling points - in the room the info tells you to pick up a gym ball at the reception desk and never mention the pool. There is even a Spa. The hotell building is not new, but what in this town is? Location is in the middle of Town, next door to supermarket. If you are a tourist - don´t forget to visit the Fjords nearby. The conference rooms are ultra modern with a classic design - a lot of mindboggling art.

“Beautiful stay”

We where three friends on a trip to Førde and staying at Rica Sunnfjord Hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. The new rooms were fresh and really nice with comfortable beds and big bathrooms. The spa was unfortunally closed but looked really nice and i will definetly remember my swimmingpants next time. Rica Hotels has a focus on serving good breakfast, and Rica Sunnfjord has an exellent breakfast with something for everyone. The staff was exellent providing good service and flexibility in every department. Thank you for a nice stay.

“Is this the best you can offer???”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2010

My last encounter at Sunnfjord hotel was sad.
We invited some friends for lunch. Where do you go in Forde for lunch? Sunnfjord hotel...
I booked to table well in advance, on the question: will there be both a buffet and a la carte, the andwer was "I do not know" This was the reception.
The day arrived and we arrived early to be there in time to greet our guests. We enter the restaurant and are met by a lady who runs past us and shouts WAIT, while motiong us to stop!
She then approached us and I inform her we had booked a table for 5. She answers; For when, I have lost my list!
We were then showed to a table with a very dirty tablecloth. We asked to change table and ver given the menu, which was one sheet; one fish, trout one meat, turkey, one or two desserts, accompanied by a long description, by Carmen the waitress, about a second dessert, which was the dessert already on the menu!
We ordered, three fish and two meat, wine and water. The food arrived, the fish had become salmon and the waitress, Carmen, came with two fish and three meat.
This was corrected and the four of us ate and enjoyed a glass of whine while waiting for the last person to get his food. When this was served and consumed we ordered dessert and coffe. Noone had been by the table to offer more wine or water or to check that we were happy!
Could we have an espresso? Well, Carmen said, I would have to check if the machine is turned on and if not you have to wait 30 min. I had by then got the drift of how the diningroom was run and ordered normal coffee - and that was the last we saw of Carmen. After a very long time I had to get up and go in search of a waiter in order to pay and get out.

I could go on and on. This hotel was until 10-12 years ago very, very well run. Top shefs in Norway has come out of Sunnfjord. What is going on? to the management, you have no local competition, is this why you let it slide?
